That's almost the best he can do, time waits for no one but there's still hope. If he doesn't get lost in the deserts of the Holy Land his TT will keep him in contention back in the Roman Empire. Question is, can he survive the Zonc?

If Froome can step up and bring his A game, he can survive any damn climb in the world and can go over it faster than any of his competition.

How wrong that some posters say 'Froome is like Armstrong', when he is nothing like Armstrong personality-wise. Unless they mean he is like Armstrong in his dominance of winning the Tour de France year in, year out. Obviously Froome is extremely driven and determined. But in terms of personality, he is almost always unfailingly polite, humble and respectful - and most certainly not a bully. In other words, not at all like Lance Armstrong.

Haha, that is exactly what I personally don't like about him. Such a sweet, humble, non-aggressive person that is such a monster on the bike. And then those sickening comments after each stage like 'today was really stressfull/the team did an extroardinary keeping me out of trouble' etcetera. For me his whole personality doesn't match at all with his sporting status. Just no.

Armstrong at least wasn't confusing with his character on and off the bike. He was leadership in person.

I’m ready to give up with West World..the story lines are just all over the place for me, I get we are maybe seeing different time lines again but I thought we left the back in season 1......oh and Thandie Newton....all roads every night for at least 2 minutes

The reality is you don't know him and have probably never met him. He often comes to train in the early season in South Africa (where I live), and by all accounts from people I've spoken with who have ridden with him, he is very affable and friendly. Probably if you ever actually met him you would realize he is not this terrible person you have created in your head. Thanks for making my point that he is not like Armstrong. But sounds like you are a fan of Armstrong's personality and 'leadership'.

No doubt he must have a hard, determined competitive edge. He wouldn't have got to the top and become the best without that.

Indeed. People are complex. They aren't just one thing or another. It's perfectly possible to be a lovely human being off the bike, and tough as nails in a race.

Why? It worked in 1998.

Theoretically, yes, the peloton could strike if enough of the hommes d'etats decided it was needed, and it would probably have some effect, if not perhaps the desired one.

But I don't think there's enough support for that decision. For one, Froome is allowed to ride, and as we know the confidentiality of the AAF was breached. So I'm sure a number of riders are thinking that they could be in the same position. In other words, it's not a hill they want to die on.

Those days are gone. People are mostly too scared to strike these days. Hinault is living in the past. They could have a sit down strike and delay the start which wouldn't change anything. Legally he's allowed to race as Prudhomme knows. End of story.

Yeah, tbh that kind of personality is what personally I like about great athletes.
