I just got a feeling that Froome isn't going to the Vuelta either. He is going to need to do something between now and then to prove he deserves that (which he won't).
Based on his social media, he only appears interested in trying to make money doing advertising. Probably why he so desperately wanted to go to the TDF, because he thought he could get more money doing ads.

I wonder what IPT could force him to do so he finally give up the money and retires. I know in some football clubs it’s common practice to assign individual training without ball early in morning. I remember one player who claimed he had to trix with an “imaginary ball”. I wonder if there’s any equivalence in cycling.

Froome is no longer a rider in the peloton, he's just a distraction. Witness all his fans online bemoaning his exclusion. "But he finished the Dauphine". I could have finished that race at his pace...I'm 63 though. We've got this circus until his contract is finished...or he's sent to the farm for old donkeys...
One the one hand, in the sporting field, his overweight and total lack of professionalism since years is shameful. On the other hand, he is a smart guy in his late thirties who made and makes a lot of money with his monster contracts and advertising..... without performing. He is even one of the weakest of the peloton since years.
Before, he already did a good job in his late twenties. Winning 4 Tour de France and 3 other GT's. Not being the most talented. Many questions were asked.
You could say he was and is a lot smarter than UCI, teambosses and collegue-riders.

It looks like Froome missed out because the team is focusing on stage hunting rather than a high GC finish.
"It was one of the toughest team selections we ever had to make, which speaks of the depth of out rider roster," said team owner Sylvan Adams in a statement.
"Ultimately, our performance team was unanimous in making these selections, knowing we wanted a team geared towards hunting for individual stages, rather than a high placing on GC."

Chris Froome's average GC placement on stage races that he has finished since being at Israel is 70th. His best in a WT race in that time is 47th, and he has never been the highest placed of that team. Since moving teams, his average timegap to the winner in GTs he has finished is 4hr 25min.

Just look back to the Dauphine. In a much easier field he managed to finish 81st, in a field of 94 finishers, 1 hour 28 minutes back.

A top100 place in the world's biggest race is as prestigious as it gets. Perfectly prepared Chris would have a shot.

I don't think that quote from Adams was in the context of leaving Froome out, it was perhaps just shoehorned into that article as being sort-of relevant as it was about the team selection.

That's the exact point, the riders IPT have are more likely (from my armchair perspective) to win a stage than finish 14th on GC so it's all a simple calculation of the expected ranking points payoff from the race.
