Reading the article Verbrugghe talks about creating the right balance to be competitive in all stages except the GC stages. Where is the logical link to Froome? Froome is never competitive in any stage.

it seems the team believes in Chris more this time. They realize the monster form is around the corner, just a few marginal gains are needed for #5...

Tbh I don't think he doesn't try or doesn't train hard. He's just done performance wise

11/06/2024

“EVERYONE IS WONDERING ABOUT CHRIS. HE IS ON THE LIST" - CHRIS FROOME IN CONTENTION FOR TOUR DE FRANCE RETURN CONFIRMS ISRAEL - PREMIER TECH DS

article
Tbh, it reads like "Yeah, of course he's on the longlist and definitely has a chance to go. *wink *wink *wink".

But then again, if with “It’s creating the right balance,..." Verbrugghe means, that they need guys performing well, guys doing helper work anonymously in the pack and guys getting propelled out the back in a camera worthy manner, then the Dawg sure has a role in the team.

Alp Dhuez stage his last Tour? Fox stage that Tour?

I have my doubts he can reach that level considering he was quite bad at Dauphine, but if he reach It he IS the best of the team beside Derek to be protagonist in a mountain stage the last week.

That Tour had a really hot weather. He need It to perform anyway.

It was two years ago and before that Tour he actually showed something in the prep races. In hindsight it was his last push, like Nibali in the 2022 Giro but obviously at a much lower level. Froome should have retired back then while still having some pride. Now he is just sitting out his contract for money.

The team almost didnt ride stage races this year and he broken his wrist at Tirreno.

The simple fact is he doesn't deserve to make the Tour team on merit.

They are a team going stage hunting and they have a number of riders who are a far better bet.

Stepping back, and given the team's objectives, there is no plausible argument for his inclusion based upon his form this year (and last).

It is sad to see some of the criticism in this thread - he was not at fault for the contract he was given, which was surprising given the severity of his accident. I wage none of the posters would forgoe the sums of money he would if he simply stopped - that said he patently does not deserve to be selected for the Tour team.

For me Froome can do what he wants but it’s clear his legacy is haunted. Both because of recency bias, people will remember the helpless man riding around and getting dropped on every stages instead of the tour champion and because he show he is willing to continue just for the money.

Personally I don’t like the team and think it’s funny they have to pay all this money for nothing.

So I did some research and it turns out that if I reach that level, Derek Gee would also be the only rider on that team stronger than me. Yet no Tour spot for me either smh.

Maybe his team are hoping for his form to change as drastically as it did in the time between the 11 Tour de Pologne and the start of that years Vuelta Espana. Other than that...
Has anyone told IPT staff that Froome suffers from bolsanado disease? If they can cure him, they might have a GT winner on their hands!
