Serious question. Could Contador, if he joined the peloton today, as-is, could he beat Froome? I saw his Ventoux recon recently and he looked pretty good. For old times sake, I would like to see this!
I never disliked Froome, but he has fallen so far down in level and still racing that it's unprecedented. I REALLY neeeds to hang up the wheels and do something else at this point.

Geoff Boycotts grandma could beat Froome in race

Another solid day in the saddle for Chris Froome at the Tour de Suisse.
He did not waste unnecessary energy pointlessly staying with the main peloton of leaders on Day Two.
Instead Froome kept his powder dry, stayed safe and kept out of the wind to finish in a large group of quality riders 8mins 12secs behind today's winner.
It is vital he gets eight quality days of World Tour-level riding in before tackling the Tour de France and Project Five.
So far, so good.
When I first read this post felt upset stomach, now latest posts are a bunch of history and fantasy stuff about what if..involving Alberto Contador..funny Alberto is 42, Froome is 40..they both have something in common, Contador hasn't raced since 2015 Froome could have stopped in 2022 or 23 everything would have been fine.. Seeing him flipping and flopping in Switzerland is sad. Retire.. Call Cavendish, call Caleb ask for help with retirement speech

Do you mean compete without any training? Seems difficult, though maybe the gruppetto isn't that hard for a natural WT level climber and he adapts to the volume very quickly.

If he trained for it and came back I see no reason why he couldn't at least be a mid level climbing domestique.

Fantastic day in the saddle for Christopher Clive Froome!
On a depleted team of only four riders Froome rocketed up 18 places in General Classification.
He has now cracked the top one hundred and is currently firmly ensconced in 99th place out of the remaining 125 riders.
With an uphill TT tomorrow surely Froome can only improve on this overall position.
