The curious case of Christopher Froome.

So his contract with IPT is now officially done. He's technically without a team, yet he hasn't announced his retirement.

The man is a living mystery.

I don't think it's particularly mysterious. He's hoping to bilk another team out of a few bucks. I mean one assumes no one's that gullible, but he's not closing the door.

Does Froome have to announce his retirement? The odd rider goes off in the darkness of the night which is fine.

4x TdF winner just disappears anonymously? That'll be a first.

I agree with red_flanders insofar as he's probably fishing for a new contract somewhere. Why? Who knows at this point.

The difference here being that Froomy is almost 41 and has been a ghost since 2019.

Indurain retired at 32 at the end of the first year (1996) he didn't win a GT.
He had won the TdF just a year prior (1995) and in 1996 he won:
- Dauphiné and a couple other one week races
- Olympic TT

Simon Yates, suddenly just retired at 33, the year after winning Giro and a stage at TdF.
No, wonder he had to announce it (in spite of not being a multiple TdF winner).

If you were to ask a bunch of casual fans, many might have not even known that Chris was still running for a PRT team in 2025:
-really? I thought he had retired years ago.
