That's one for Mental and random cycling statistics.
I was gonna argue that it requires Froome to get a contract, but I realized that even if he doesn't, it kinda still holds. Because there has never before in history been more than one rider at four wins. That's a bit of a fascinating stat. Everyone else who has managed four wins have moved on to get five without anyone else reaching four in the meantime.

Ironically Horner had at least shown some signs of life on the bike in the years leading up to his Vuelta win. It was a shocker, to be sure, but he had at least shown some signs of being capable in the mountains before he pulled that one out of the bag.
Froome winning anything at this point would be like Prudencio Indurain winning the Tour the year after Big Mig retired... check that... Prudencio might still be competitive against Froome if he came out of retirement right now.

Hope Froome has more plans for 2026 than to ride than NSN almost for free. It is a pitu they say no, but anyway, he can race at another smaller team with a low contract and he can even get resuls, This year he was the second best of the team at Sibiu Tour and 59th at Queen stage of Poland, his last 2 races. He can do something some stages if he doesnt has to work in a continental team. I hope he can get it, Just for publicity issues in a motivation for any small team.

It's an appropriate follow up to his own Kate Bush covers Running up that hill and A Froomey's worth feat. Sylvan Adams.
Adams and his wife Margret have given away over @$200 million dollars in last 12 months, he has a running philanthropy total of over @$800 million in charitable donations. Guy is a competent bike racer, seen turning out miles\ kilometers in South of France and too many other great riding locations.
Mr Adams could certainly fund an inexpensive existence for Froome with gift cards, pre paid credit cards and some non profit organizations picking up rent on an apartment or 3.. Froome could appeal for some help from billionaire cycling enthusiast.
Chris Froome is a great bike racer, legend for multiple reasons. He should step away or define why he is hanging around.. Director? Developing a program? But nobody is thinking he can contest races for a result. If he is included on any roster, regardless of compensation, it's an insult to the sport. Don't need anything symbolic.

He can do the Bas Tietema thing. Start his own cycling team with himself as player-manager. And main sponsor, hopefully.

Depending on his relationship with Sylvan Adams and others who have both a passionate interest in bike racing and are part of the donor class, Froome would be a logical landing spot for some philanthropy money.
Chris has a really broad fan base and certainly has a really, really wide range of experience from racing as a young man to racing as an older rider.
Froome appears to be in good standing w people who have 10s, 100s of millions to donate.
