paris is at the end.. that win blew me away... never seen the sprinters shafted in paris..
those clips are 2003-2005 when he DIDNT fail any dope tests.. (doesnt mean he wasnt.. just means he passed his tests) must be seen as well, vino was one of the few liberty seguros riders NOT linked with peurto, had never failed a test until 2008... ;)

Jeannie Longo wins at age FIFTY

More interesting (and utterly dumboundingly amazing) is that Longo won the elite women's race at age FIFTY. I know many of the big names in the women's peloton weren't there, but still... Age FIFTY!!!

Most if not all professional riders are doping cheats. At least this one is fun and exciting.

...also, is it difficult riding on that high horse while your head is being securely stored in your posterior? I can't imagine it is comfortable.

And in the summer, it will be great to watch the announcement of his positive doping test.

He'll just get some advice from Armstrong or have the Kazakhs pay McQuaid $500K under the table. Problem solved. Meanwhile, the rest of us can enjoy watching an aggressive rider who is not afraid to try a crazy attack near the end of a race.

Where are all the top time trialists: It used to be that the Grand Prix Des Nations was a top end -of-season race to win. Now this "replacement" race is aeason closer but few big names.

They are all too tired, a condition that became more common when the UCI decided that the cycling season should be one day less than 365 days long.

The sport is rife with hypocrisy, due to that "unknown factor".
A prime example of this, that a number of posters, here can relate to, is Europsort's commentator, David Harmon.

Now, let me say, from the off, that his attitude that many share. Be complimentary about all riders that haven't failed a test. Change your attitude, if they do.

However, at the Vuelta, worlda and Lombardia etc, we have had Vino, Basso and Valverde.

On Vino: Can hardly managed to say his name, without a groan of dispair. Only mentions his dark past a lot and the ability to attack.
On Basso: Always mentions his OP connection, without dwelling on the subject. moves on to talk about Basso the rider.
On Valverde: Mentions CONI only in passing, but doesn't see him in the same light as Basso. Other than not thinking Don Ale could win a GT, always speaks of the Spaniard in glowing terms, as if nothing had happened.

The truth is that all three are guilty of the same offence. Basso and Valverde's history identical.

I suspect those who hate Vino now, did so before, or else, because they somehow blame him for Lance and Bruyneel having to leave, even though Lance was never officially a member of the team.

Well Valverde hasn't been convicted invternationally so there can still be some doubt. (No I don't really believe that, why do you ask?)
Basso has at least come clean. (For low values of clean.)
Vino on the other hand has been convicted and hasn't come clean. (I don't really have anything to add in whiteout here.)
So we really are dealing with 3 different things. (At least that's how the story goes.)

i was under the impression basso denied taking ped's or cheating, only admitting an intention to cheat...
