A simple Operation Papp is better.

According to some comments on Velonews, Papp was supplying a bunch of dudes in Colorado, and it has been known for a few years. This could be fun.

I hope that in the end Papp releases everything to the public. It is ridiculous that Velonews is protecting riders like Zajicek.

Maybe it does, at least in this case. It looks like someone who was respected and looked up to allowed his teammates to use his laptop and credit card to buy drugs. The idea that he wouldn't know about it, though, is highly implausible; given that you'd get confirming emails and a credit card statement, as someone else said, and given the change you'd presumably see in the efforts and behavior of your teammates.

Gives a whole new meaning to being a team player.

Mr. Coyle is just another omerta-boy.

IF you believe him, then he was an unwitting agent of EPO purchasers. Now that he knows that he was an unwitting agent, he chooses to protect the EPO purchasers with his silence.

That tells me all I need to know. Mr. Coyle supports EPO doping. No problem with any sanction he receives.

IF he his telling the truth, his friends are lower than pond scum. They betrayed him by misusing his credit card and they further betrayed him by refusing to come forward and clear him.

I read the VN article a couple of times. I find charm in the subject and the writer saying that $10 or 12k a year would be exceptional or out of the norm. Everybody I have know throughout racing has had this same financial MO. From Coors Light to renting a room is about normal. All the glamour and all the insults in the world can't paint a different picture of cycling. I don't beleieve a word of Chuck's reasoning. Like the publicized Papp..the only thing people want to see is Contador getting a new Ferrari or Lance's multiple house and jetset dilema.95% of racers are working extra jobs or selling boxes of powerbars that they got from a sponsor to eat something you can cook in a stove. Guys selling jerseys online to make ends meet,Papp living in his Mom's basement,Gerlach huffing rock and puting who knows what else in his mouth to cop the next fix, Landis at the carwash..Tyler Hamilton carting a stationary bike to help would be age grade standouts....man these guys need a union..NFL guys that make it get a pension and it's still in the mail when they get out of jail..no wonder why the cycling mags don't have lots of "Where Are They Now?" feature stories...

While I absolutely agree that cyclists would be better off with a union if such an organized labor front could actually operate in a globally-dispersed sport like ours, I do want to clarify that I never lived in my "Mom's basement," though I appreciate the imagery. I stayed at my family's home for some months when I returned abruptly from Italy, and I again returned to the compound (lol ) once it became apparent that final resolution to my case might take a year or more and that the effect of that strain ongoing made living in a townhouse in as chic a neighborhood as one might find in a steel town impractical, to say the least.

What I can't believe is that anyone would purchase EPO or any other PED online with a CC like they where buying a plasma TV from Amazon.com. I would think something like this would be a cash only business.

While it might be plausible that he'd let his team mates use his lap top and even CC, to purchase something, it's hard to imagine he wouldn't know what they were buying for all the reasons mentioned. So even if the team mate using the laptop angle it true, in the least he'd be complicit like an adult buying booze for underage kids. But you never know, sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction. IMO it's doubtful that the 100% truth will ever come out.

That's it. That, plus he doubtlessly thought that since it wasn't him using, even if they did come looking he'd have "plausible deniability."

Apparently wrong on both counts.

Worth keeping in mind, though, is that when a corrupt governing body is under suspicion of corruption, they generally respond by going after the smallest fish they can find - and showing no mercy. Zero tolerance.
