10 seconds faster? Anyway, you can't necessarily compare it from year to year. The race was more of a mano-a-mano in 2010 in comparison to 2011 of which it was quite bunched up until Gilbert went but even then it still stayed quite bunched amongst the others. Many of the teams played into Gilber'ts hands with their hands on the Mur because they were too scared to go early. In 2010 there were many more climbers who finished higher up were as that was not quite the case in 2011 Fleche.

Right, so why do you think having Evans at the start would change anything? Suddenly they wouldn't be scared to go early? Or would it be Evans who would go early? But then he wouldn't be able to win. Maybe Evans would be able to beat Gilbert in a very tough edition of the Fleche, but just Evans presence wouldn't make it a tough edition, I really don't see how you can say that Evans would have won if he would have started (pretty stupid of him not to start in that case btw.), there is no way that he could have countered Gilbert's attack, when it let even a guy like Rodriguez in the dust.

Is there any point in racing classics this year? Just give the trophy/prize to Gilbert in the morning and let everybody go home. He won with such ridiculous ease that you really do have to wonder.....

He only wins the hilly classics. If there is a hill in the final 3-4km he wins the race. If not, he loses.

Evans wouldn't have gone earlier tho. If he did he might have prevented gilbert winning, but probably would have lost also. And no way would he beat Gilbert in the last couple hundred metres mano a mano.

I thought you would of agreed with me on that point as you said during the tour that you felt Evans would of beaten Gilbert in Fleche this year.

Had someone gone earlier I think he would have.
But no one did, it was all to easy for gilbert.
Evans would have come 2nd in that specific situation I think. Maybe if he went earlier? But I don't think he would have.
