Most in-denial sport: a close tie between Rugby (both codes) and tennis.

Is cycling any less in denial? I think it's even more in denial.

You think so? Sure, more denials are voiced in cycling, but that's because the tennis mentality denies even asking the questions. Now that's some serious omerta. I don't think I've ever heard tennis commentators discussing doping for more than 10 seconds without ridiculing the idea of doping in tennis itself.

Even when discussing former pro's with a very dubious past, they usually skip over or ridicule the doping part. Cycling at least admits that there was a problem and only tends to naively believe the "it's getting better" story of today. Tennis does not even admit there was a problem in the past.

Best last minute, end of season, come from out of nowhere, Colombian attempt at glory: Esteban Chaves (who?)
Chaves did take a big leap forward recently, but if you think he came out of nowhere you simply don't know much about cycling.

Wasn't Paolini's performance in MSR stronger than G's?
According to Boardman and the rest of the mafia on itv and the times etc, G is a "climber". A climber doing that on the cobbles is 100 times stronger than anything paolini has ever done.

LOL!! So true!

Dave.
the modern zeno's paradox

Absolutely!

It goes like this: if you want to dope, you have to first inject the first half of the dose, but in order to come to the half, you have to inject the first quarter, etc etc, so you would need infinite amount of time and holes in your arm... and these holes are not cool, that's why doping is not cool anymore. Q.E.D.

Ok, a former L'Avenir winner, with very solid results in 2012 and 2014 has come from nowhere. He's won stages at Burgos, Suisse and Cali and podiumed Burgos and Beijing, with a 4th at Langkawi and only just turned 25 this year.

So I suppose Aru had a breakthrough performance this year at the giro?

Zeno of Vaughtria

and such holes would merely be a machine calibration error
of the hypodermic needle
that hypodermic needle is not approved method
and we get in the danish exogenous tester daamsgard or whatever his name is
cos when he did CSC
for Riis
Cervelo provided him
with a free top of line steed just to test them
and Slipstream used Cervelo after Felt and before Cannondale

Can't beat that.
While he may not have set any pace records on the climb, don't leave out Filipe turning into a goat to win that from the escape. That was just as absurd as the pace behind.

Now that event is without a doubt the best candidate for the " Tailwind Of The Year " award!
