Two Questions:

1. Does anyone know if there were 2008, 2007, etc. “photos of the year”? Yes, I know this forum wasn’t around then, but it might be cool to see if CN, or fans elsewhere picked some from the past.

2. Does anyone have some favorite links showing a lot of photos to choose from?

We've been doing it for a while, although this if the first year we've allowed readers to do the initial selection. I must say, from what I've seen thus far, it was a good idea.

We had technical issues last year, however, here's the links to the results for each year since 2003:

From Men's Road Race of UCI Road World Championships.
This is the best race for me in 2009.

Racers lined up at the start.

Might be a bit late now, but I'm a huge fan of some of the images from the 'cross racing in Europe. These two from the weekend are great:

Hi All,

Thanks to everyone who submitted their favourite images of 2009, a great selection. We'll be using the best in our Reader Poll (coming soon). Buffalo Soldier wins the signed book from Chris Hoy for his favourite image from Paris Roubaix.

Thanks

Daniel

Lombardio not in the pre-selection for best one day race? Come on, it's one of the monuments.

Agreed.

I also wonder how some of the pictures were chosen, what criteria exactly. I was surprised to see Hushovd's Tour win and Farrar's Vuelta win as choices. I just think Haussler's stage 13 win and Nicki Sörensen's Stage 12 win at the Tour were more emotional and meaningful. They even made for better pictures, I think. Ultimately, it's a moot point as Menchov's **** on the cobbles in Rome was a huge moment and excellent photo. I expect that to win.

I found it difficult to choose just one option in some questions. Take "Legend of Cycling" for example. How could you choose somebody over a rider like Chris Eatough, and vice versa? Maybe in future years we could choose a "legend" from each discipline.

No big deal really...just thinking out loud.

I personally don't like that I HAVE to pick someone for each question. I don't know any female mountainbiker, how can i know who's the best??

Just do a google image search on all the choices. The one you want to add to the Babes on Bikes thread is your choice :D

Seriously though, Lisi Osl won the womans world cup; she had a stellar season, and is beautiful as well. I expect some big things from her.
