Kirby is perfectly capable of making up idiotic reasons had he wanted to. As bad as he is - and he is really, really bad - he was answering that he too had no idea why QS would be on the front.

He's awful, but let's not call him out for the one time he actually got something right!
.
Exactly. Backstedt could give no reason for Etix riding on front.

But blame Kirkby for everything.

"Because Contador offered him money" might have been the most plausible response.

And there's Johnny Foreigner, sparkling palmares but he has a dark side which we'd best not talk about right now....less said the better ho hum....

Chasing him down with aplomb it's Ryder Hesjedal, Grand Tour winner, English speaker, knight of the road, what a man!

To be fair to CK, I don't think he can let a race go by that Ryder enters without mentioning earlier 'issues', usully referred to in a euphemistic way.

Again non-Eurosport but Ned Boulting said on the coverage of Brabantse Pijl that BIKE will have Trentino live (which was announced a few weeks back) as well as Romandie and then highlights of Tour de Yorkshire. There may have been a fourth event that I missed as he made reference to four upcoming things I believe. Anyone else catch that?

Good news, Trentino and Romandie are probably the 2 biggest stage races that weren't live on British TV. I'm sure Tour de Yorkshire was live on ITV last year.

TdY was also live on Eurosport. So we may get it x3? Twice live and then highlights on BIKE. I wish the picture quality was a bit better. It's nice that they're picking up the races ES don't usually show but there are steams with clearer pictures!

Trentino will be on Bike Channel only in UK or also in Italy?

Yesterday during the race Savoldelli said that they will have Romandie live, daily highlights for Turkey and a synthesis of Yorkshire at the end of the race but he didn't mention Trentino.

Thanks to support from the Italian Lega of professional cycling the Giro del Trentino will be live on television on Raisport in Italy and via Eleven Sports, BikeChannel UK, TV2, Fox Sports, L'Equipe 21, ESPN, Laola and EBU in different parts of the world.

Bike will probably use the commentry of ITV.

Ease up on the Kirby criticism. It's just a bike race, not the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Kirby is a true fan of the sport, warts and all.
He knows his role as a commentator, and that's to get all excited when things heat up. Sure, he can say some dumb things every once in a while, but it doesn't matter. At best he animates the race, and at worst he says really funny things.
That's a win-win in by books.

Well, it does seem to me like he has become worse recently. Making more mistakes, misinterpreting the situation or just make stupid comments. But yes, his job is to keep going and be excited.

Most of the time I don't mind him, but when he focuses on one fringe rider for no apparent reason, it's annoying and on some level unprofessional. A newcomer to cycling would have thought Darwin Atapuma was favourite to win the 2014 Vuelta and that Thibaut Pinot was selfishly destroying Sébastien Reichenbach's chances of winning Pais Vasco.

Yes ...Kirby making mistakes or saying silly things is not really an issue for me...annoying but no one is perfect

Its his bias in commentary to the point of undermining some riders in favour of others and also his propensity to say stuff that implies his knows what the riders are thinking or knows how they feel about situations, each other , etc when he clearly is just making *** up that drive me insane. Do not insult my intelligence

Listened again to some of the 2015 Vuelta final week...Well Kirby's bias towards Dumoulin was unbelievable...all because he has predicted before the race started that Dumoulin would do well

Dumoulin was very good in the race and a surprise but Kirby commented only on how good Dumoulin was and on how.when Dumoulin would win etc....He barely mentions alot of riders in the top 10 who finished higher than Dumoulin on GC and he was almost dismissive of Aru... Now I am no fan of Aru and quite like Dumoulin but this level of bias was sickening and unprofessional

I guess that's a possibility.
