I love that SK pronounces "wheel" as "h-w-heel". A few choice CK quotes today:

Normally this kind of level of shilling has to have a message saying "the following message is a paid advertisement by Pinarello in conjunction with Sky Professional Cycling Team" flash up on the bottom of the screen, and a premium-rate phone number to order in the bottom corner.

Even the only audience emails they're reading out are about Wiggins and the new Pinarello (which they take care to name at every opportunity).

I get it, it's early in the race and there's not much to talk about (at least mid-shill Declan bothered to update us on the women's race, which is much closer to the business end of proceedings), but I've spent a lot of time trying to be fair to the commentators, and here their fanboyism is just reaching Phil & Paul's 24hr Lance Channel levels.

thank god the beIN stream had Hatch and Backstedt today so I didn't have to listen to that clown. funny that he was shilling the hell out of the new Pinarello's because Hatch and Backstedt talked about them being mostly a PR stunt and that there was nothing special about them.

He did spend fully five minutes calling Eibar "Arrate" including the football team being called "SD Arrate" and so on... even though the graphic actually showed the actual name of the town on screen.

There was a tweet from Eurosport relating to that at one stage. However, there was a development in the story, and with fact at the bare minimum, in black and white, DH is a freelancer and Eurosport have chosen to not use him again. What that story is, well it is out there, but people are coy about going into detail.

Kirby took being wrong to an art form today. How one person could be so wrong, so often, in one stage is beyond me. Its a TT stage for crying out loud, just look at the goddamn numbers.

And his habit of referring back to his own previous cretinous misconceptions as "we thought that....", has to be irksome for whomever he shares the booth with.

Still, I'd probably prefer the strident folly of today to the bumbling and stuttering incomprehension of previous days.
