Anyone know what's happening with Romandie coverage this year?

My TV guide goes up to Thursday of that week and nothing was listed on Sky or Eurosport about showing it.

Think Sky have given up all their rights as they have showed absolutely nothing this year but the only one Eurosport have taken on that I've seen so far is Gent-Wevelgem, and thank the stars they did! By this time last year Sky had shown highlights of all the Flanders Classics races as well as highlights from RCS's stuff. I've now cancelled Sky as I only resubscribed for their cycling coverage.

Eurosport have filled their Trentino hole in the schedule (was on the provisional list) with the mouthwatering Tour of Croatia.

Sky seem to have the rights still but they're not using them going by Gooner's post.

I wonder who's going to get the chipper to beat all chippers, Tour of Croatia this week? I keep a reasonable eye on the peloton and I'm struggling to recognise many riders in it. Last year Jonathan Harris-Bass was served up the live stage of the Tour d'Azerdbaijan, which was equally thin on big names and teams and iirc consisted of a scenic circuit around an old city with next to no spectators.

Looking at the start list for Croatia, it's 3 Pro Conti teams (Novo Nordisk, CCC and Rusvelo) and 14 Continental teams.

I'm sick of him referring to Mario Costa as Faria da Costa as if that was his full name. 'Faria da Costa, Rui' brother' as he said on more than one occasion and no doubt will again! He does it with the Spanish riders too, Contador Velasco and Rodruiguez Oliver two that come to mind, though at least he is aware they have first names. I genuinely believe he reckons Rui's brother's first name is Faria. Though contradicting myself, I'm sure I've heard him referring to Ruia Faria da Costa in races.

Not Eurosport but apparently Ned Boulting and David Millar are commentating at Tour de Torkshire (rather than anchoring) for ITV4. Interesting listening if it is the case.

The Giro obviously is back on Eurosport Germany / International this year and no longer exclusively on Eurosport HD / British Eurosport. Is that right?

Talking about Kirby. Eurosport could better hire Phil Liggett, who at least still has his voice.

I like Kirby. He is funny and makes the races enjoyable to watch. One of those guys you would hang out with in your spare time. Would be boring to some impersonal commentators who just mentioned the name of the riders.

We all make mistakes. I would like to see you comment a race without making errors. Kirby's natural charisma and engagement is what sells the sport. We identify with Kirby as the audience while we cheer for our favorites.

Have you ever watched a race on the Dutch Eurosport, with Bobbie Traksel en Jose Been? Wow they're really dumb as f**k. Confusing left and right several times, confusing riders, pronouncing names completely wrong, explaining tactics the wrong way, and so on...

I think Quigley is improving rapidly. He was always pretty good at the parts of the parts of commentating that weren't particular to cycling, but nowadays he seems to have a much better grasp of tactics and is markedly better at IDing riders.

I agree - I remember enjoying his commentaries on the British domestic scene before he went to Eurosport and he was good, but he was parachuted into the Giro at the last minute following Harmon's Lord Lucan moment and clearly knew as much about the Euro peloton as my mother. A good commentator at heart, everything he did suffered from a lack of specific knowledge (I think he came across trying to force enthusiasm at times) and we've had to watch him learn the job (at this level) with an open mic over the past 2 years. Poor guy but I think he's getting there. I no longer want to mute him and chose DQ/MS over Boutling and Millar yesterday. Might channelhop today though.

It can't be easy when you're new to the job, I guess, and I almost felt sorry for Ned. Getting a constant earful from Millar, he seemed a tad confused.

On the steepest part of the climb out of Robin Hood's Bay, they didn't seem to think it had even started. You'd think the 25% road sign they'd just ridden past was a clue?!

While he didn't shut up enough, I really enjoyed the insights Millar brought to the commentary on ITV4 today. Far more informative than any of the Eurosport pundits.

Agreed on Millar yesterday. Rather dry delivery but excellent insight at times.
