I thought in light of the Tweet from the Twit about Eki

we could have a thread of tweets to those who were second to Armstrong.:D

to make it enjoyable 1 example of a tweet per post.:)

Congratulations to Gilles Maignan. You're now the winner of Stage 4 of the 1999 Circuit de la Sarthe! Which now takes your career total to 9 victories! (Jens Voigt is now the new runner-up - double yay! :))

Ok, ok.
Just for entertainment, I choose this one here. That was a really hard one.
Man, ze Germans were so angry and frustrated. Of course me included, but it was just another step on the long way to accept and respect Lance's GREATNESS. :D

Congrats Andreas !

But wait, Lance says "no gifts" and they even became teammates. Sorry Klödi. I guess you won't take it anyway.

Congrats to either Nibali or Ivan. Looks great on your CV, winner of the 2011 Giro. Good enough a reason to give it all you got in the coming days.

EDIT: or are we only celebrating Lance's runner-ups?

Congratulations to Jan Ullrich.

You are now the winner of Stage 20 in the 2009 Tour de France.

Dave.

I think you mean 2005?

Congratulations to Andy Schleck. You won the 2009 TDF after Astana's TTT was disqualified (the Marion Jones' teammates rule).
Also the 2010 TDF when Bert was given a 2 year suspension by CAS.
And the 2011 TDF when Bert wasn't present.

But the second placed riders in those Tours are not giving up hope.

Yes. Thanks for the correction. Got mixed up with the 3rd in 2009 going to Wiggins.

Dave.
