OK lets forget the GT's for a minute, get yourself the DVD's of Paris-Nice 2006 and 2007 and then say the guy never attacks.

To those add the 08 Vuelta: AC attacked and won on one of the toughest climbs in cycling; Angliru. The next day attacked the last mtn top finish to win and lock the GC. Talk about impressive attacks.

Geez Sword, didn't you say a couple times that you used to be a Big Lance Fan - even writing a Blog extolling Lance's racing?

Have you ever heard the expression:
"Fool me ONCE, shame on you. But fool me twice....."

or how about:
ONCE bitten, twice shy"

C'mon...When you watch the Tour this year and Alberto launches his blistering attacks and drops everyone big time, watch closely to see if he reduces his pace a tiny bit to avoid being classified as an ET or setting off alarm bells on Greg LeMond's internal dope-o-meter. Look for some fake grimacing as well. C'mon...

Bruyneel or one of the other Astana directors was quoted in the past as saying that one of Contador's major assets is his body's extraordinary ability to quickly flush lactic acid from his muscles, thus heightening his ability to recover faster than the norm from hard efforts.

So what is Contador's next race?

Is it Paris-Nice beginning on March 8th?

Who else of note (meaning riders going for the overall) will be riding there?

It's March 7th. Valverde, Samu, Levi, Kreuziger, Joaquim Rodriguez and Vandevelde.

After Paris-Nice, it's Volta Ciclista a Catalunya March 22-28, and Pais Vasco April 5-10. That's 21 stages in 35 days, but he said if he's not too tired at that point, he might enter the last two classics just to be there before taking his break. I'd be surprised if he does it this year. Otherwise, that's it until the Dauphine Libere in June and I guess, whenever the Spanish TT Championship is for him to defend.

A lot of good riders want to win Paris-Nice, so it should be a good one.

Excellent article on Contador and his new team.

One last question from the news conference: Does Contador get weary of being asked the same questions? “Oh no,” he replied with a laugh. “I love to discuss cycling. It’s a nice change from back home in Spain, where all they talk about is soccer.” In that case, bueno.

"It isn't essential (for me to win). I don't need to especially, other than to reward all the hard work. There is no difference between winning seven or eight"
wtf is he doing then racing bikes in "the only race that matters".

go back to texas, promote anticancer, drink beer, live life of a busy and content father of healthy kids...there are so many wonderful things to do when athletic goals dont matter.

either he is learning the truth he did not expect before his decision to unretire or hes gone too deep into his own bizarre reality.

Nah there's a catch in all of this.... he’s angling for a payment from the Tour to turn up. He’ll say he can’t come anymore then ASO will pay him to be there…..

payment may be but it could arrive in the same envelope as the arrest warrant
for blood infusion waste (flodians pay attention - the frenchies do know how to 'properly' send legal papers when the catch is big enough).

That could be an intriguing possibility, and maybe one for the Clinic - maybe he doesn't want to go to France for legal reasons and is now slowly back-tracking and keeping his form poor so that he can avoid France without much suspicion on that side of things?

Or maybe I'm still tripping from all the night-nurse I've been swigging recently.

Lance has been spotted training in France already this year -
in Nice just before leaving for the Murcia Tour.

Bordry may have found out too late to snip some hair or take a DNA swab...
Curses, foiled again:(

You're welcome:)
- He is a legend, yes?

“A hard day with a lot of tension,” Contador wrote on Twitter. “My leg didn’t permit me to use my normal pedal stroke but I hope that with (physical therapy) and time, it will get better.”
Contador said he has now gotten beyond the point of thinking about abandoning Paris-Nice this year.
I think today was really the hardest for me,” he said. “I am not going home now. I was able to finish and I am in a good position (on GC), so I’ll continue, for sure.”

He's definitely a very very speciel athlete. The results he has achieved already would probably justify the label legend. But I don't refer to him as a legend, because he's still so young and may have the biggest results of his career ahead of him.
Legend is something I associate with one who has done it all. Contador is nowhere near that. He's just getting started.

From what I can read it was a hard crash, so I guess it could have been a lot worse. hopefully he will be able to go full gas on stage 4.
