A certain Lance Armstrong, winner of seven consecutive Tours, who also returned to help Alberto win his only clear and undisputed TDF victory ever. It's true Bertie has shown remarkable strength in the Giro and Vuelta, but has never overcome the likes of Pantani, Ullrich, Vino, Voeckler and Basso at their best.

Say what?

I distinctly remember someone today saying that a Danish newspaper reported that CAS wouldn't take away any of Contador's wins this year. Has anyone got a link to this/can confirm it?

I remember that vaguely too, but as far as I recall it wasnt a Danish paper. Was it Austrian maybe?

He's a true champion. He races to win. Full stop.

As for today, I'm definitely excited about the development, but I'm not reading any more into than it was an effective day for him. He could just as well have a bad day tomorrow or during one of the Alpine stages, so I'm going to hold my enthusiasm in reserve.

I know this is the Contador re-appreciation thread, but I would be remiss if I did not also acknowledge and celebrate Cuddles. He's really impressed me with his fighting spirit. He's not wheelsucking to victory, which barring a collapse in the Alps (which I don't foresee), he's going to win his first GT (and it will be well deserved).

Good post. I disagree entirely with why you consider him a champion but wholeheatedly agree with everything else.

I've worked very hard to manage my expectations the last 2 weeks, the crashes, the knee, the obvious 'off' pedaling style. Yesterday I said in a thread 'Alberto has more guts, heart, determination and panache then the rest of them put together'. Amen Alberto you certainly do and you showed it today! Hoping for alot more in the next 4 days :)
He may not win (still managing those expectations) but I sure hope he does!!!

I read it too somewhere, can't remember though. Some expert said they couldn't remove his victories post the acquittal.

Yes it would be remiss not to acknowledge Cadel, he is riding like a winner!!! Alas for him the Champion is starting to feel better. If Cadel wins I will celebrate for him, he's done a great ride so far and if he manages to carry on, Chapeau to him!

Wow!!! This has to be the funniest and blindest statement I have read here. Do you still wear your yellow livestrong bracelet? Since how long have you been watching the sport? 2010?:D

... and the Aged Texan never raced againt Bernard H, Eddy M, Fausto C, or Greg L to name just a few, but so what? In future maybe you shouldn't put LA, Marco, Jan, Vino, Ivan in the same group. Some think they have more in common than is good to think about.

and little Ti Ti Voeckler from Martinique? Get outta here!

This is Voeckler at his best. He's never shown anything like this before.

Did you mean Virenque?

+1 "and may God have mercy on your soul" :D
You know you've scored when someone with 666 in their name starts praying for you. What I meant to say, however: that was great attacking from Contador today, and if Evans tries bridging like that on a longer mountain, he (Cadel) might be in real trouble afterwards.

It was in today's AD (Dutch newspaper). Not sure if there is a link to it anywhere.

Yes, he won a stage to Alpe D´Huez at last years Dauphine Libere. Same climb was used as a training preparation leading up to this Tour so he knows the climb very well.

Great to see him stick it to the Winklvoss twins Frank and Andy

And drag Cadel away from them as well.

It was a %%% dream come true.
