For the people who want him to ride the Giro this year, which teammates would you pick for that race and for the Tour? Same people for both, completely different squads or a mix?

I don't see why he can't ride for the double. It's actually a good sign re-doping and may help to changed the Armstrong entrenched viewpoint, that the Tour can only be won by riding a minimalist programme.

Radio Smacked on the chin, again. Great announcement.

I agree 100%, in my fantasy world I'd like all the big names to ride most of the big races on the schedule.

It would be really interesting to see Contador do Giro-Tour double. I guess if there's one rider out there who could win both races the same year it's him.

Isn't it possible for top GT riders to do the Giro-Tour double anymore? I don't see why not. I understand focusing everything on the Tour for the most glory, but it should be possible. And if anyone can do it, Contador probably can. Fignon, Indurain, Pantani, Roche of most recent past. It's possible.

I think Evans and Sastre are resigned to trying to win the GTs that Contador isn't participating in. I'm not a Contador fan at all, but you can't deny his talent.

You should welcome him instead, i'm sure cadel can learn a lot from him.

You can't teach an old dog new tricks, and if you try it you're liable to get your head cut off.

I thought it was changed so that you're not supposed to step on an old dog - now I'm way confused.;)

GO AWAY CONTADOR!!!!

you're right. this is NOT good for cadel. although in all fairness, it is a bicycle race and i think cadel could beat him, although the multitude of very steep hills in this giro play to AC. don't underestimate your man.

still, conta is not invincible, he is just very excellent and talented.

i'd like to see him ride it. at least he won't disrespect the race as a training ride. i think he is genetically incapable of not riding away from the world's best rider on the steepest hills, even when not "on form".

a guy like conta, from a sporting perspective, needs to try for the double, just to challenge himself. it is more interesting for everyone than just showing up and dominating the tour. ho hum. but if he rides the giro to win it, then the tour becomes wide open, and interesting. maybe this year the race won't be over after week 1.

my question is, what does vino get? i find it hard to believe a raging egomaniac like him will be happy playing domestique to conta all year? vino likes to win bicycle races, as i recall. vuelta, perhaps?

Palhino will not allow Contador to ride the Giro this year. It would be a disaster in many ways even after Contador wins. If he rides it?

Lance and Bruyneel would love Alberto to do the Giro. They may find it unusual to see so many kindred spirits here.;) PS Can't see it happening.

No way he's doing the Giro if he does the double this year it will be the Tour/Vuelta

Totally agree franciep............races are to close together to be able to peak twice.............................no-way in hell will he ride the giro..............plus this is Cadels last chance at a Grand tour victory..

Well I think he'll at least attempt it in the next 3 years. I'm not sure I want Cadel to win I kind like his role as the not so lovable loser in the peloton

so berto won't ride because it is cadel's last chance to win?

i too think he won't ride. but not because he can't win the double. i think everyone here would agree that if anyone can do it in the modern era, it is contador.

he won't do it, because modern cycling is fricking boring like that. he will do what his advisors and sponsors tell him to do. and they are not interested in sport. they are protecting their commissions, revenues and investments. (is there an emoticon for abject boredom?)

I think he should slowly move up the doubles and then take the triple.
1st Giro Vuelta
2nd Tour Vuelta
3rd Giro Tour
4th Giro Tour Vuelta

I don't want to see him ride this giro, as I don't want him to lose the tour and have an excuse. I want him to win the Tour, but more I'd prefer he gets to the tour inform and the strength tactics of someone else takes it.

You're both wrong. You don't need to learn what you already know.

And here I was thinking that my point was so unsubtle that no one could possibly miss it. My mistake I guess...
