First of all it's not entirely clear what the benefits would be for an athlete of ACs performance characteristics would be to take growth hormone (or clenbuterol for that matter).

Then there's the highly questionable idea that you would see any visible difference. Craniofacial structural changes can't possibly be judged by photography for the simple reason that soft tissue can change for all sorts of physiological reasons. I am not convinced that even in patients taking long term GH therapy that brow ridge growth is a feature. Generally it is the jaw and posterior base of the skull which grow. But all this information is from patients with GH deficiency.

Basically speculating on possible doping with GH on the basis of photos may be a bit of fun but that is as far as it goes.
everyone knows a cyclist's intrafacial white tissue and muscle atrophies over 20k mile seasons, especially a veteran after half a dozen pro seasons.

anecdotally, testo and hgh is a supercharged recovery dope combo. Chaser With a smidgen of igf1 and insulin, they are right to go.

Contador has developed a little cromagnon simian brow there, like Edge

a GC rider 30 years ago could still have cheeks. Hinault, Merckx. All the drugs atrophy any and all non functional muscle. All look wan.

If it is good for ADA spooks, to recognize physical signs, it is good for the gander

Is it me or has something odd happened to Contador's head and face. It seems to have changed (got longer more horse-like) over the years.

What the hell has happened to his eyes/brow?

HGH?

Did you notice how his clothes have changed over the years as well? In all the pictures actually! Wow, we need to look deeper at this... :)

Look who's next to him in some of those photos.

He was to worried about getting a ride back to the hotel in that podium photo. He could see LA and Brunyeel driving away from his view on the the podium.

In the Astana shot I think he was wondering why his bike was having 105 installed.

Now he's happy, happy with Riis.

The part in bold made my day!:) Thanks for the laugh!

There's something scarey about Mary

Rafael Nadal - Before/After ?

The lips are pulled tight (until the skin stretches after prolonged use), the chin protrudes, the cheeks and brow protrude causing the eyes seemingly to fall back into their sockets.

As far as Contador, the visual evidence is less obvious.

i actually know someone who has the same kind of vene system, very superficial veins that bulge out (he's not a pro athlete though, so it's not that extreme)

+1..... ......

If you think you need dope to have veins showing on your legs, you need to ride more and stare at pictures on the internet less. Even more so if you think Cameron Diaz' physique is a sign of doping...

No difference here.

Yep. I don't see a difference, since Cameron started working out with her boyfriend (admitted steroid user Alex Rodriguez).

Nothing to see here folks, just move along. Just crazy conspiracy theorists here.

Yeah, but mostly how his head has changed after 2007 when he started working with Marti.

I just hope that he doesn't suffer from the same side-effects that Barry Bonds had from his roid use.

I think the odd facial characteristics run in the family.
Check out this guy:

I find the idea discussed in this thread intriguing though. I mean, I always thought there was something wrong with AC's head. Maybe he's been on HGH for quite some time already, i.e. as soon as people started recognizing he had talent but was too small to reach the top, a la Messi.

You know, you can ride 6 hours a day if you want and still have lots of time left for staring at pictures on the Internet.
