arrrghgh I waited for 11 hours to watch the rest of today's stage with such anticipation and excitement to see how Gusev would fair...

No time bonus and the peloton catches the break, he couldn't even pick up time bonuses in the final sprint... the break's efforts were not rewarded at all by this result :(

Okay, so aside from guys who are injured and may yet salvage their seasons later (Breschel, Plaza), I believe obvious picks for next year start with Henao. A lot more points on offer with Sky than in South America...

HA! I have to agree with that. I'm sure many people will have Henao on their teams next year. I know I will. :p

Damn DAOTEC for his crazy postings about Movistar 2 and all those Columbian talents, making me think Henao was racing in Europe in 2011. Now with the Team Sky news I find out he's still in Colombia!? I thought he was a bargain, now I'm not so sure...

I didnt pick him but even if it didnt work out, it was worth a try.

60 points wasnt much, and there was (and remains) the smal chance that es passion bring him to europe for a race or 2.

It wasnt much of a chance, but had he come to Europe this season, it would have been some good points for those of you that picked him

Kind of like the guy who picked Valverde. Had the decision been overturned (unlikely but small possibility) we could only have sat back and watched the points come in in and in.

Well, it might not be too late. He could still join a team as stagiare this fall and get some decent european points.

Not many races that Sky will do in the autumn that would suit Henao I feel? And if he has agreed terms with Sky, no way will he ride as a stagiare for any other team.

Ya, there's a distinct lack of stage races at the end of the year. The thing that comes closest would be the italian fall classics but I'm not sure how many of those suit Henao. I'm guessing he'll mostly do Tour de l'Avenir during that period anyway.

maybe, maybe not. He is 23 at the moment (not sure if he turns 24 before then, which would mean he cant), but last year at the age of 22, he won the Volta (riders like atapuma did also) and didn't ride it, don't see why he would ride Tour de l'Avenir this year. He would probably win pretty eas. After all, he is good enough to podium at the giro ;)

Ah ya. Forget that they changed it to a U-23 race. I was thinking it was still open for everyone under 26.

I already have a few guys I want on my team next season, who I see big potential in (kinda hoping they don't do too well this season). But I ain't mentioning anything here :p

Yup I put Henao out there because he was obvious, but that's just a smokescreen to hide all the other up-and-comers that I have brilliantly been tracking... ;)

Is it true that no one actually has Rosseler or Westra? They are both on plus already with these results.

Why stop there. There are 3 spaces on the podium not 2, and the guy who occupies the last one, is also already on a + with his result.

To be honest, i was crying like a spoiled brat the last few days regarding depanne because i had like 4 guys in the break on tuesday, none made it to the final 4, then i had Wiggins who i hoped would win, and he pulled out, and neither Steegmans nor Huta were contesting sprints.

I did have a glimmer of hope when i saw Kwiatkowski had finished top 10 in both sprint stages.

And then the tt came and Grivko in 6th adds a decent tally to the 3rd place. So not all that bad.

Hope Steegmans and Huta dont act so crap in future sprints. Seriously, these guys who have won grand tour stages shouldnt be losing so badly to the younger guys.

Which btw ties into the discussion of who to pick next year. It will be wierd suddenly, overnight switching support from 30 guys to a totally different set of 30 guys and cheering against the ones i spent a whole year cheering for.

Does anyone have guys who are on their team who they will have on their team next year.

Moreover does any one have riders they have on their team who are doing well AND will be on your team next year.

Kwiatkowski could be just one such rider as he moves from contending Driedsage tts this year, to contending gt tts next year :)

Looks like those riders from Poland scored some nice points today. What do you think Mr Hitch?
Only one of them is on my team.

The other guy Bodnar isnt so he could be Russian for all i care;)

Well, I didn't include him because I knew that he was on at least one team if not more while the others have been completely overlooked it seems according to the list I compiled in post 572 in this thread.

Agh... Roesseler was one of my last cuts. I decided to take Sicard instead, yeesh.

Other brilliant decisions of mine:

- taking Sicard and Koren over the above mentioned rider and Duarte
- taking Modolo over J-C Peraud
- taking Ciolek over Taaramae
- taking retired Vlad Efimkin over Jesse Sergent because 'well, how many points will Sergent get anyway and if Efimkin isn't really stopping riding...'
- taking Ricco over, well, anyone.

edit: and I don't mean I just picked a rider and could have had another rider. I mean, all of those riders were on my short list, and I directly picked one at the expense of the other.
