Yeah congrats to Du Plessis, Kallis and De Villiers. Great bowling by Lyon and Siddle- but he could be screwed for the next test. I do not know if i would like Starc and Johnson- both left handed, with Hilfy who barely bowled today and looked ineffective. Personally i might even go for Hazelwood and the 2 lefties, as Josh bowls aggresively and is tall like Pattinson. That only being if Siddle cannot play.

@ACF: Johnson is only in the squad. Besides he goes well against SA and we shall regain Watson.

Johnson was selected by the media, wouldn't expect him to be in the XI.

Pitch will be rigged for a result, probably in favour of the seamers. We could see Lyon missing out despite his valiant efforts this test.

If the Aussies want to win they won't pick Johnson. He is not half the bowler he used to be. They won't risk him. Leaks too many runs and is too one dimensional. Not enough variety in his bowling unless you include wides and no balls.

I probably carried on a bit about Johnson, he isn't in the XI yet. Unfortunately with the stupidity with the selectors over the past decade or so, it wouldn't surprised me if they selected him.

But why go with four seamers + Watson as extra bowler? Don't they trust his body? NZ is finally showing some class with the bat, Tim Southee has excellent swing.

Johnson is rubbish. They may as well fly me to Perth if they're going to pick Johnson.

I'd like to see Starc or any of the other young quicks that aren't injured get a go.

After the way you put the Kiss Of Death on Michael Clarke, I half expect Johnson to now go out and have 5 10 wicket matches in a row :D:D:D

I do agree though, Johnson is just far too inconsistent to be an opening bowler at test level.

Watson won't bowl. He will only be there to do what Quiney and Ponting haven't been able to do. Score runs. Depending on the pitch, they might drop the spinner and include an extra fast bowler.

Mitchell Starc looks as though he's going to win the next 3 or 4 Ashes for Australia pretty much single handedly.

The advantages Starc seems to have over the other two is that he's less injury prone and he's a left armer. The natural angle he can create when bowling to a right hander can get him wickets even if the pitch is flat/spin friendly. The other two will need some assistance either from the pitch or the weather to be as effective, IMO. Plus they seem to get injured every time they sneeze.

Australia bowled very well today but South Africa have largely been very disappointing this series, especially with the bat. Starc is a very bright prospect for the future but I wouldn't be jumping to such big conclusions about his future.

It was very amusing when Lyon came out to bat this evening and the crowd thought it was Ponting for quite a while. :D

Faf aside, they've been pretty poor. Smith especially, that one century glosses over his several failures.

This has been a brutal day. First that limp batting display and now South Africa are scoring at ridiculous speed.
