I think Argos will look to bring this one back for Degankolb. But if a decent group goes clear they may have trouble getting them back, not many teams have sprinters here and many teams will want an easy day before the TT. Once the right break goes we won't see Sky on the front.

Doubt it about Sky not working ;)Sky worked all stage today. If they did that today and worked that much.

They will tomorrow as well.

TY DominicDecoco for putting up the thread, seeing as Bavarianrider can't count.

Again, I doubt Degenkolb or Matthews are in great form - Bouhanni ftw, or Bozic.

Oops, EBH of course.

I can't get the right feel for this stage. The ending would be great for the sprinters but I can see the break going all the way to the finish. sky and bmc are sure to chase but not too hard, unless they have to if Europcar tries to explode the race mid-stage, in one of the rise

Yup.
It's try and dump the jersey time for Sky. Get the break mix (french) right and it'll be down to the likes of Argos/FDJ to figure it out quickly enough, or the break will stick.

Could be as deadly dull as the profile suggests.

Nah just still buzzing off a montecristo.

Have I mentioned what a ****ing epic song that is by the Eurythmics?

Yeah I have to agree.

BMC will bring the break back just to annoy Wiggo and keep him in yellow.

Dont recall any rider being so peeeved off to be leading a race.

His actions on the podium are huge laugh, screaming at the local presenter,

"cmon, hurry up and give me that fricking god dam yellow jersey so I can get out of here. "

I must have a slightly doctored version of the podium awards because in mine he was all smiles and hinting at the need to "honor" the race and the obligation to protect the golden fleece. Or was I half asleep and dreaming all this.

GreenEdge have stated they are going all out for Leigh Howard on this stage so I would expect them to be doing a lot of work, unless they place someone like Sulzberger in the break. Howard will be a big chance for the win given his California form against Sagan and Haussler.

I actually thought Sulzberger rode well last nite with the dig at the end.HopefullyHoward can stay hidden within the Peloton until the last 250mtr mark and then unleash hell..;)

Given Stg 4 is the ITT, I think the disucssion of whether Sky should work to defend the jersey is a bit wide of the mark - if Wiggins plans on winning he needs to be in Yellow after stg 4 regardless. And if his super-team can't defend this race from start to finish then what chance do they think they have of keeping riders in check come July.

Howard ftw.

I think ill go with matthews just because there don't seem to be many top sprinters in this race. The best sprinters are probably ebh, degenkolb, matthews, and howard (maybe ciolek). EBH would be the obvious choice except that he seems to not care about even trying in the sprints.

Howard ftw.

So you've never seen a team give away a leader's jersey for a few days to a non-contender to save some energy?

Sky's reluctance to have Wiggins in yellow at this point is nothing to do with wanting to save energy though. It's simply a case of Wiggins not wanting to ride the long time trial in the crappy skin suit that ASO will provide him with.

To be clear, in California he was beaten by both of them.
