Valverde strong, barely lost any time to Richard's unparalleled performance in the second part

If my math is correct, Valverde lost 9 secs in the 2nd part and Contador 11 secs. Pretty similar.

EDIT: my math in Valverde is not correct. He indeed lost 6 secs in the 2nd part.

At the intermediate, Porte was at +2, Valverde at +20, and Contador at +24. So Valverde was 18 behind Porte, while Contador was 22 behind.

At the finish, Valverde was 24 behind Porte and Contador 35. Therefore, Valverde lost 6 seconds in the second part, while Contador lost 13.

Porte will have to drop Valverde if he wants to win the race.

It's actually the other way around.
Valverde has the bonus seconds in his favor.

Correct. However, assuming 1 stage is for a breakaway and the other by neither of the 2 I think that AV should take initiative in the mountains if he wants to win the GC.

You are right! I had a bot of trouble finding the correct intermediate times form where I am sitting. Stellar performances by LRP and Valverde. Given AC's goals I think he had an okay TT. Froome's second half (apparently the toughest part, seeing how Tony Martin lost out in the second part) was shocking by comparison losing some 27 secs to LRP.

BMC was right to finally awarded Richie as the sole leader. He can deliver the goods. Chapeau Richie for the win.

Very surprised to see Froome this bad. If Romandie is anything to go by, where he did a similar TT. he will find the mountains difficult. I cannot see either Valverde or Porte winning this.

OK, I'm definitely not good at predicting cycling results, but I can't see them both loosing it, barring accidents.
