De Gendt... A rider with GT top 3 capabilities
That is not true and you know it.
But, it has already happened so there's no rewriting history to support your false narrative.

Regardless of the who's, the what's, the when's, and the why's, Thomas De Gendt has podiumed a GT, so deal with it.
It is not false narrative. Only it's year 2017, not 2012. Thomas got noticeably worse since. These days he is not capable of podium. You've missed my point, deal with it.

4 Belgian victories today, lol.
But still no GT  lol

Olympics is worth more than a Giro win anyway.
Said no one ever.

Said everyone. Best riders in the world targeted the Olympics. Best GT riders in the world skipped the Giro or didn't have it as a main goal.

Dumoulin got outclimbed by Van Avermaet at the Olympics after all. ;)

Physically he has it.

Mentally, not so much.
I've heard brain is part of the human being :)

Anyway, he no longer climbs with the best even on his good day. Some would tell you that Giro podium was a fluke cause favourites him go. Maybe yes, maybe not, it doesn't matter since it's five years ago a and he changed somehow.

Lets not forget De Gendt podiumed a totally irrelevant edition of Giro d' italia which Ryder freaking Hesjedal won, mostly due to the break. Scarponi was much worse than the year before, Basso was done etc. He isn't podium material, rather top-10 potential at best.

He is a great stage hunter tho, some of the best in the business maybe along with Cummings and a few others.

Jojo, stop embarrassing yourself. Of course the Giro isn't less important than the Olympic RR.
Thanks God, I nearly had a stroke... How can someone rate Giro <Olympics?

I don't know actually. I mean, from just a cycling perspective, of course there's no question winning the Giro is worth far more.

But for a general audience, especially someone from a country that doesn't usually win lots of medals, there's some special value for an olympic gold I'm sure, financially and for publicity.

If I were a cyclist, it would be close, I think. Strange comparison though.

Only two definitive ways to resolve the disagreement.

One, count the number of pages of the Giro thread and the Olympic RR thread in the cn forums.

Two, check which race is more often won by the Good Riders. which are those winning cobbled classics
