Porte to come in 1st of the favourites, Contador 2nd, Valverde 3rd, Froome 4th. Not sure about the time gaps.

I think Porte is strong enough to drop everyone on the climb, but I'm not sure about his descending, if Contador has let's say a 15 sec gap at the top he might well take that back tll the finish. If Porte decides to go hard on the climb and attack relatively early, Valverde will have problems, I think he'll just let go at one point and contain the damage, maybe be half a minute behind at the top or 40 sec or something. Wonder what Froome will do, he might be dropped early and just ride his own pace to arrive a minute or a bit more behind at the top, or he might try to ride aggressively and hit the wall at some point, losing roughly the same amount of time in the end. All of that's under the assumption that we will see serious action on the climb. And I'm really not sure about the time gaps.

Porte won't attack here, I don't think, even if he's far and away the best climber - which remains to be seen. He won't risk it, regardless, seeing as he's the weakest descender of the GC guys by far, IMO.

I see your point, but if he had a gap at the top, he wouldn't have to risk all that much in the descent.

how is the descent?

Very fast and narrow, Porte could have problems...
Is Porte bad on descents?

Porte descends just fine. None of the GC riders will ever drop him on a descent.

As for this stage, I don't see many teams motivated to chase the break. Maybe David Gaudu to announce himself similar to how Nairo did in this race in 2012.

So Chad Haga had some help from Dimension Data when he needed a new bike while still in the neutral zone. He did get his own bike right before kilometer zero.

What are the rules? Is that allowed. Using another team's bikes?

During the race it's illegal but as you say he got his own bike back in the neutral zone. You can only take a wheel from neutral service, team car or a team mate and a bike from a team mate or team car as far as i know outside the neutral zone.

He was nauseous yesterday and lost a few seconds, so I'm pessimistic.

I think Froome will be better than people expect here, if he gets dropped I can imagine him Yoyoing back to the front. Very curious to see how they're all climbing. I think S Yates will do well here, but fear for Chaves a bit :(

Porte had big problems during descending in Paris Nice 2015 when he felt two times on wet descent. But it was slippery.
And he crashed in Rio.

Who didn't crash in Rio ? It was a dangerous course. Anyone can crash on a wet descent. Menchov even crashed on a wet ascent ! Porte is a good descender. He isn't bad in the same way Zakarin or Andy was bad. Just not a Sagan or a Nibali.

Froome is an expert with the yo yo but somehow I don't think this stage will be decisive. Maybe Valverde picks up a time bonus and he should if the break gets caught.

If Froome yo-yos that means he's not on it. That's usually a vuelta strategy for when his form isn't as good.

Nibali is an overrated descender (World Championship, Rio, Joux Planes,...)
Romain Bardet is never crash

I think Valverde will take it ahead of Porte and Bardet, with Froome and Contador a bit behind.
Porte will drop everyone on the climb, Valverde and Bardet will catch up in the descent.
I also think Chaves is going to suffer a lot, he's not at 100% yet.

Bardet is the obvious favorite which means he can't win. (But, seriously, if you're a top 5 GT talent and have done a "new" climb probably dozens of times, it's your stage to lose)

I look for Froome to try to mark Porte, not attack. I suspect he's not sure of his form yet.
