I think Roglic was very much on the limit on that climb. But that's mostly Vingegaard being really, really strong.

Roglic was absolutely on the limit. Vingegaard or the team asked Roglic to take over for a while. But he was blown away again and again and had to quickly get back in the wheel. You could also see it clearly on Roglic's face.

But again. This is a snapshot. In France, the roles may already be reversed. Yesterday Roglic was good during a short effort, his specialty. Vingegaard is less explosive and was ordered to stay in O'Connor's wheel.

But I am convinced that Roglic will have no chance in the Tour against Poga. Poga, better every year. Roglic a little weaker every year. 32 already. Furthermore, Roglic always has a weaker day. Remember the TT at the Planche de Belles Filles, the last stage of Paris-Nice this year and.... today.

Today Roglic had a weaker day? Oh my, did I really just read that. o_O I mean if that was weak, where can I sign that he'll have the same day at TdF...

What a demonstration of power by JV! Not only Roglic and Vingegaard but also Kruiswijk. They completely bullied their rivals today (and in this race). Jonas super strong today and so was Primoz. Congrats to both. They want to bully the rest at the Tour as well (like in 2020) but hopefully they will have a more offensive mindset this time (attacking instead of preventing any mountain action).

We shall see. I didn't see Roglic risked dropping, but the team must now know who is better.

Roglič won both races this year on around 80% effort. He wasn't at his best at all and still won, which is fantastic. He just started his racing year in Paris, and he came from injury in Dauphine. His peak should be TdF with 90% still on Vuelta.

Vingegaard is around 90 - 95% right now. He said himself that he has no chance following Primož, specially when Roglič gets to 90 - 100% form. They are also great friends.

Ok, I'll give you that. But now let's say that Roglic is at 80% based on their historic peak performances. Just like Contador at Verbier was at 100%. He never saw that again.

The percentage thing is ridiculous. People use it to fit whatever narrative it is they are trying to portray. No cyclist can win a bike race of this level on 80% of their capabilities.

hmm. Not really.

I don’t think anyone thinks vingo could have “destroyed” Rog. Dropped him, yes, 15-30 seconds maybe.

nothing against O’Connor. But the key thing is that they only put 15 seconds into him. So, yes, I think Pog is likely quite a bit above that, yes.

my sense is that Rog has slipped back to the pack a bit and I am not sure if vingo is substantially better than last year. All this leads me to think that Pog might have a fairly easy time of it.

This might be a hyper sensitive reaction but the gapping of Roglic by Vingegaard might prove to be a planting of a very useful seed from Jumbo Visma in making their 1-2 punch card more credible and forcing Pogacar to exert himself covering moves from both riders not just reacting only to Roglic.

Congratulations to Jonas Vingegaard for winning the Queen Stage, Primož Roglič for overall, Wout van Aert for green and Steven Kruijswijk for securing the Tour spot. Ben O'Connor putting on a good fight.

JV did a great job today controlling the stage and going after the win. Kruijswijk dropping the peloton was rather special and then for Vingegaard and Roglič to TT till the finish line. Good thing they did this race as a prep for the Tour. They got back some much needed feedback and confirmation they are on the right track. Although the field was not the strongest i wouldn't underestimate what they have shown at this race. Pogi will miss Almeida.

I just watched the last 6km. Surprised they went so early, produced such outstanding numbers, and only put :15 on Ben O’Connor. It seemed to me like Roglic was content to ride tempo behind Vingegaard. I didn’t see any evidence he could have to put time on Roglic but nor did I see evidence he was cooked. He was briefly a couple meters behind but he stood up and closed it easily. Looking good IMO.

Much and all as I like Rog and I do like him alot Vingo is stronger at the moment and he knows it...His ITV4 interview seemed non committal about his 'support' role at the Tour and believe me one of them will have to chase Pog down in a domestique role at some stage

Lets hope JV have some better tactics this year to tire Pog out

I guess O Connor, Martinez and Vlasov and maybe Yates will fight for the podium
