Maybe they changed his cadence and/or pedaling technique due to this injury in spring… I hope he benefits from it :)

I don't think so.

I think it's simply because it was so flat. I also think some of Rog'c critics should re-watch the Olympics TT, specifically the moment Asgreen caught up with Rog & overtook him on the descent & pulled away on the flat - owing simply to the physical differential (bigger = better on that part of the route).

Roglic is a climber & rouleur who excels on mountainous, hilly & rolling ITT's. Ganna was always going to smoke him today, as was WvA.

Hopefully Roglic can avoid his usual Vuelta peak and be ready to challenge Pogacar in week 3 of the Tour. That said, the Vuelta could be a good one this year especially if Pogacar and Hindley also ride along with Roglic,Yates and Carapaz.

Will pick van Aert for stage 5.

Nah.

It would be crazyville for JV to chase a breakaway for WvA to go for the stage. It's a sure fire way of scorching Benoot, Laporte & Harper before the weekend.

Unless they don't give a sh*t about GC of course & have no intention of controlling stages 7 & 8.

Pog may have some bad luck at the Tour. He's due some at some point. It's going to end up as Vingo Vs TGH :)

And that's why we love them.

What's the Jumbo strategy now? Do they try to defend Wout's 1 minute lead in the mountains?

Likely they will back van Aert until possible. Likely starting tomorrow. By extending his lead. Why not.

But didn't Pog beat Wout in a similar TT in the Tour?
That TT was more rolling and Van Aert didn't find his best legs until later in the race due to a lack of race rhythm - he lost to Vingegaard too that day. Not that great an indicator for today, although Pogacar would not have been completely without a chance.

Rogla apparently seen training water carrying tonight. He will need it to help Wout with his water needs.

I guess it's up to the other teams. To lure out JV GC section. Realistically it should happen. Still i could imagine van Aert won't go out without a fight. Hence the battle plan likely is lets have fun and lets take the bonus seconds tomorrow.

We'll see.

I would think it more likely for them to go Complete Domination on the weekend and a 1-2-3 podium.
