José Been, the Dutch woman working for Eurosport UK, also received complaints when she pronounced Dutch names (i.e. her own language) like they're supposed to sound. English people just couldn't understand her.
It's not a loophole. It's there for a reason. And the team has never used it when other riders where injured. In fact the opposite is true, with many riders even getting new contracts during long term injuries. He rode for his country so that he wouldn't be docked wages as they found a loophole in the rules - And he rode 15kms and stepped off the bike.
I'm not talking about her other possible flaws... but feel free to send her an email, she'll love it.Of course people complain about Been, especially when you name the wrong riders or even name riders who aren't in that specific race.

I'm also not sure riding for a nation had any impact on this rule, as the period of inactivity for the team remained.
In this case it was the rider who shut out the team, not the other way around.
I don't know where this is coming from. Lefevere treated him like dirt. How you can say it was unilaterally Bennett who was responsible for how that relationship ended, I don't get at all.
I mean he had already fallen out with Denk at BORA, so perhaps he isn't necessarily the easiest rider to work with. That said, it was clear that Lefevere's way of doing things and behaving in the media definitely didn't improve their relationship.I don't know where this is coming from. What is difficult? Within QuickStep, and this was looooong before his knee issues, it's been said he is very much afraid of pressure and has a big fear of failure. On what I believe was his second race day for QuickStep he lost some sprint in Australia to Ewan(?) and his immediate reaction towards teammates was asking whether Lefevere (who was on the other side of the world btw) is going to be angry. Lol.That's possible. But he did keep quiet in the media when Lefevere was insinuating that he was faking injuries and comparing him to a wife who returns home to a violent husband and other niceties. So he doesn't strike me as the most difficult type.
Van Baarle with his current level should raise some big question marks within Jumbo.

Other than that he probably isn't great because he's just returning from injury, what do we really now about his form?Van Baarle with his current level should raise some big question marks within Jumbo.
There used to be a conspiracy theory within QuickStep involving Bennett. Remember when he was riding finale in one of the minor cobble classics? E3 or GW iirc. He started puking and what not. All headlines spoke of him going too deep on one of the climbs, but it is thought that he started puking because he was scared. Whether this is based on numbers we never saw I do not know.Okay, that's a different type of difficult than I had in mind.
I obviously don't know the full story, but I agree that there was no reason for Lefevere to lash out against him the way he did, but he isn't exactly known for keeping internal matters confidential. That's possible. But he did keep quiet in the media when Lefevere was insinuating that he was faking injuries and comparing him to a wife who returns home to a violent husband and other niceties. According to PCS - yes, which is odd unless he crashed. Castroviejo seems at least to have got over his problems.Ben Turner abandoned?
I'm assuming he isn't currently receiving the Tim Declerq treatment because he was so stellar on training camp. Jumbo are already thin on uphill help, they might not be able to afford for Van Baarle to not be at his very best.Other than that he probably isn't great because he's just returning from injury, what do we really now about his form?
Van Hooydonck is the only rider currently there who is more or less on the same level uphill as Van Baarle, the rest of them are simply better. So it makes sense for him to be the first workhorse.I'm assuming he isn't currently receiving the Tim Declerq treatment because he was so stellar on training camp.
