I generally try to temper my excitement, but this is me after today's stage.

Visma tried to play the numbers and in the end Pogi won and gained 4s on Jonas. So they can't be happy about today. Pogi rode the smartest, did the least amount of work, as it was Jonas that made the decisive move, after trying with Jorgensen failed, Remco active in the middle and van der Poel acting as a proper lead-out at the end, holding back the bunch. Can't really blame van der Poel for riding the way he did, as he wanted to win the stage and nobody else would do a pull, that was his only chance or the peloton would catch them. Remco is now 10s down on race leader and as such he lost a lot of time, this after all isn't a GT. On why he rode like he did, waking up, likely due to belief he can beat Jonas in sprint. As van der Poel went early, Remco was already empty at the finish line, otherwise i feel that it could indeed be a much closer match in between Remco and Jonas.

Pogi likely already won the overall on stage 1, devastating blow, now lets see if second place is still up for grabs, or not.

For sure.
E.g. stage 7 can barely deliver time gaps of 3 secs,
The tension is canceled, it's all over.

What?!?! No offense, but this race is positively backloaded with mountains (including multiple HC climbs) plus there is an ITT yet to come as well; today was exciting and frankly unexpected but to suggest it's all over after today doesn't make much sense, at least to me.

Looked like Matteo was there to help guard a gap for Jonas and the others to get clear. I'm sure there was some selective, discreet blocking going on by teams to the finish.
It was a fun first stage, though!

I just love the complete lack of balance, many here splash Pogacar and UAE here and in clinic. All evil all the time like old time MTV just non stop Pog punishment..
And then there are mothers of young children who took the time to sing praise for Pogacar and his youth outreach... I love the beauty of it all..

I can't really agree with that.
Jonas has been out for a long time and today was something out of character from him, maybe even unplanned (he said so).
In the end he had a good leg stretch and got a good sprint performance. Maybe he even realized he might have another tool in his toolbox.

So yea, he lost 4s to Pogacar, but so what? This is only the 1st stage of the Dauphine.
He might have gained something worth more than the 4s.

As for Visma, if they're serious about Vingegaard, then they're playing the long game (not a stage, not even the Dauphiné). They must be happy with his performance today, for sure.
