Weather protocol question - how is this different from when it was pouring at the women's Worlds RR? I mean it was raining there too and you could tell the ladies were just miserable, but that race had not been shortened. So how is it decided to shorten a race due to rain?

According to CRO Race on Facebook this was given as the reason:
"Due to the strong wind on the section from Senj to Novi Vinodolski and the closure of the road for large vehicles and motorcycles, the start of today's stage will be moved from Otočac to Novi Vinidolski for a 64.5 kilometer stage."

I dont know why one would automatically think it's "OH ITS RAINING WE MUST SHORTEN THE STAGE"?

This is what PCS posted about the stage today -
STAGE 3 - INFORMATIONS FROM ORGANISATION AND COMMISSAIRES PANEL

Due to strong wind at the section from Senj to Novi Vinodolski and road closure for the big vehicles and motorcycles, the start point of today’s stage will be moved to Novi Vinodolski at km 64.5 at 13:40 without a neutral zone. Team buses should leave the start area at least 20 minutes before the start towards the finish in Opatija and use the main road.

The length of the stage will be 89.5 km. King of the mountain prime in Vratnik at km 26.5 and Sprint in Novi Vinodolski at km 63.0 will be removed from the stage.

Time for individual general classifications will be taken at the entrance into the finish circuit with 3 seconds rule. There will be no bonification at the last Sprint or at the finish. The mountain classifications on the final circuit and points at the finish for the points classification will be awarded as normal.

So it was not just the weather but road closures too.

I like him, I don't think I'll ever forget how surprised and confused he looked to be standing on the top of the podium after he had won a race. Can't remember which race or stage it was...

Wonder if he'll have the same look today.

McNulty was always going to win the stage when he got to the neutralised part with 11.5km to go. Riders will not push when there is no time to be gained.

They're showing all the staff and spectators packing up and leaving, a sad reminder that it's back to reality now.

They're also playing Celebration, unfortunately there aren't many people left to celebrate.

2024 CRO Race

The 3rd Stage of 2024 CRO Race was won by Brandon McNulty of UAE Team Emirates.

Funny to see who completely mailed it in after reaching the circuit, and who went for it. Onley and Bruttomesso arrived at the finish later than Paige, who got to the circuit 18 minutes after them.

So I see today‘s stage was shortened due to too strong Bora (winds) but that was not reflected in the race.

I'll bite my tongue about yet another win for UAE, but I'm definitely stoked for McNulty.
