I was so happy today to be able to eat a salad again: lettuce was found innocent, as were cukes and tomatoes.

I will never trust a sprout again, though....

Kind of scary when you can't trust the veggies...had a scare over here a bit back...spinach, lettuce were threats...Remember them being taken off the shelves. Don't know what the bad one was...

Glad you are able to eat a salad!

You're talking about EHEC aren't you ? We in Belgium didn't have any trouble with it at all amazingly enough....

tonight curried rice and lamb, the lamb coming from a friend who raises it. Also salad from the garden: Nasturtium leaves and flowers, tangerines, green bell peppers and balsamic vinegar dressing.

Chanari at @15 W 29th St across from the Ace Hotel in NYC. There is a big temple right there, the place has a blue awning. The food is really out of this world, it's some kind of ****, Bangladesh,Indian,African hybrid cafe.Everything is awesome and 6-9 bucks makes you roll out feeling completely full and content. Also Metro Pizza in Hellls Kitchen is a good find.

Here's a good Pad Thai recipe.

padthai.jpg

Pad Thai for beginners

Pad Thai is one of the most popular Thai dishes, perhaps second only to Tom Yum Goong. It’s also one of the most requested recipes here on Chez Pim. Why, then, has it taken me this long to post this recipe, you asked? I don’t know…perhaps it’s because I don’t actually have a recipe! Is that a good enough reason?

There are so many silly Pad Thai recipes around, a quick google reveals one with ketchup as an ingredient. What an abomination! Not even the fabulous June Taylor’s artisanal ketchup can rescue that one! A few other recipes I came across would have us make four or more portions of Pad Thai at once –which, I can guarantee you will result in clumps of oily, sticky noodle unfit for human consumption.

My Secret Burger

I have never made this for anyone else but it is a favorite. This is the burger I developed to serve in my never to be gastro/microbrew/smokehouse.
The most famous burger that never was:rolleyes:

Shredded Iceburg Lettuce mixed with Mayo. Toasted bun.
OK I had to use Romaine Lettuce but trust me Iceburg is the way to go.

Relish is 2 parts ketchup to 1 part sweet pickle relish.
And american process cheese. don't get fancy with the cheese the kind in the plastic slices work best.
