Your gut would probably struggle on a decent climb with Pooley not Cav.Anyway it turns out that we can compare her with the men.Emma Pooley just won the National TT and her time would of put her in a very impressive 5th place in the mens race!
The junior mans race that is.

Have you seen Emma Pooley? She's about five foot nothing and 40kg soaking wet. Given that, her TT is surprisingly good, but considering your original salvo was comparing her sprint to Wiggins and her climbing to Cav, how she does relative to the élite men is not relevant, just as comparing her time up a HC climb to that of Contador or Rodríguez is not relevant when you're comparing her to the climbing times of the sprinters.

Plus, it's very hard to take anybody seriously when they use a genitive marker in place of a verb.

If I knew what a genitive marker was, I would probably be deeply offended. No more from me on why I don't think Emma Pooley is the best cyclist in GB.Its just an opinion. No for any one to get their knickers in a bunch.

If you knew what a genitive marker was, you wouldn't say "would of" because you'd realise it makes you look like you don't know what you're talking about.

Don't worry, Liberty enjoys imagining everyone else cares about his or her chosen specialisation. No doubt (s)he gets very upset when Shakespeare’s Sonnets deviate from accepted grammatical practice.
I care.

(Also I think there might be a difference between early Modern English and "would of")

Boonen is not an won't ever be a better sprinter than Petacchi. Boonen is able to deliver a sprint after a difficult race, but in a Tour stage, Petacchi will be faster. Boonen also says that himself, that he is not a real sprinter but that he has the pure power to win sprinting stages but that he figures he will not sprint that often in smaller races anymore.

In general, you can look at the sprinting style if you wanna see who's a real sprinter. Guys like Ciolek, Boonen, Boasson Hagen etc are fighting with the bike, while guys like McEwen, Cavendish or Petacchi look a lot more polished in a sprint.

I'm not saying Petacchi isn't a better sprinter, but he's 36 years old already. The only serious competition he had this Tour was Cavendish and he never out sprinted him unless you count cavendish crashing in stage 1 and Cavendish in stage 4(imo it was more of a mental thing that bugged him there). Let's not forget that Boonen would have gotten free points at stage 3. And even if Petacchi would beat him all the time and Boonen always ending up third place he would still end up getting the green jersey(if he won stage 3 and didn't crash with Cavendish at stage 1).

I care, and I'm not even a native English speaker. Would of is *** and makes me cringe every time.

Are you forgetting who did get those points? And where he ended up in the end?

Something popped up in my mind upon reading your list: what's up with Ignatiev?

Нe had a terrible season, no good after a beautiful victory at the stage of Tirreno-Adriatico. ITT at thе Vuelta his last chance to show something this year, but I don't believe in him. Ignatiev perhaps the main disappointment of the Russian cycling over the past 10 years, when he was young, everyone thought that he would be a future superstar

He rode his first race after recovery in Belgium couple of days ago (GP Jef Scherens - Rondom Leuven) and abandoned the race after 140 km. He will ride all Belgian classics this week. He is great talent of course and a big hope for future.

3rd in Vuelta a Murcia, decent showing in the Giro (aside from the prologue) and not completely terrible Tour if you forget about 2009 for a minute. I only see Cav and Millar improving that, especially when this thread isn't supposed to be just about results, as we can all check CQ. It's also about potential.
Decent showing in the giro? Like what? (excluding prologue as above)

oh good news. I have been waiting to see kritsky return. Last year I rated him higher then the likes of sicard.

Hopefully next season he can have an injury-free season, and show us some of that talent.

2. haussler
3. Rogers
4. Goss
5. Renshaw / Porte

Top 5 Kiwi's on the road this year....

1. Greg Henderson
2. Julian Dean
3. Hayden Roulston
4. Cath Cheatley
5. Jesse Sergent

Dean is easily a superior rider to Henderson. He just barely ever gets to ride for himself.

The winner of the Giro below Visconti ? I'd put Visconti third or 4th

Probably you're right, but as this was a personal list (i dont pretend to be correct) i rather prefer one-day classic guys like Visconti than GC riders.
Anyway again it's not possible to compare them as they ride for totally different goals.

I understand why you chose him as he's won some decent races but they can't top winning the Giro. I'd like to see him compete in the Ardennes; I honestly think he could play a big role there.
Never understood why Quick-Step let him go, especially after holding the pink jersey for 8 days in the 2008 Giro :( That guy should be in ProTour
