Well we have the first WT race, The Tour Down Under, showing live on Peacock. So far no commercials in 23 minutes. Commentators are Phil, Robby and some woman.
Is she the same one who in the Vuelta a few years ago couldn’t fathom why Ineos weren’t waiting for Froome since he was their leader (this was post-crash Froome who couldn’t podium in the Tour of Ethiopia)?

As already explained - Anne Meares is a decorated track rider who only commentates on the TDU as she lives in South Australia. Has never commentated on the Vuelta.

Yes I have the BR and all they show under sports is basketball and football, etc. Is there some place they list which cycling events they will cover?
Have they shown any yet?

there hasn't been any cycling on BR yet. they said it would start in "February", when in February I have no idea. anyway I think CX Worlds is exclusive to Flobikes. the first former GCN races should be the Mallorca Challenge races starting on Wednesday followed by GP La Marseillaise on Sunday, we'll see if they show those but somehow I doubt it.

It showed up on my phone but not on my laptop! The first scheduled race is 'Womans Race' on Feb 8. I kid you not that's what it says. Followed by UAE Tour with no dates or times.
Once I but it on my to watch list it showed up on my laptop!

I guess it's Tiz for Mallorca & La Marseillaise if one wants to watch it.

That's exactly what I was seeing yesterday on my laptop. I was pulling my hair out! Then I went and downloaded the app on my Android phone. Under BR it now went past Feb 1 and Womans Race Feb 8 came up. So I added to my watch list and then it showed up on my microsoft laptop also.

I’m starting to poke around. Max supposedly doesn’t start up with the so called former gcn+ coverage until February. I have the monthly subscription so that I can opt out if i can find better options. Most things require in app subscription purchases, which automatically is geographically restricting (Eurosport and or discovery+ is not an option with my mobile device). I might try to make accounts via pc in case I can sign in from television apps. I’m located in Canada currently but apple account is located in the states. With vpn I can at least get around flotard’s grip on Canada.

I can see the Mallorca races on discovery+ website schedule. But it is georesticted within the app subscription. It is not otherwise offered in typical North American formats (flotard, peacock, max). Not a serious motivator for me to find streaming, but an example of races that are blocked in our part of the word because streaming services have a lock on the area and don’t wish to pay to carry a race(s).

The big hole in the Canadian Flo calendar is all the RCS races (UAE, Tirreno, Strade, MSR, Giro, Lombardia, etc.) It would be great to have a legal option to watch all of these instead of doing piecemeal VPN shenanigans for each race, even better if Flo would pick all of them up. Overall, I've been pretty happy with Flo service since I signed up in December. It actually has a Roku SmartTV app, unlike GCN+ which promised this for years but never delivered. It's not great value for money, but not the worst either.

I'd still love to see a Watch from Start feature like GCN+ had on their live streams. Seems trivial to implement, but I'm no expert.

that's because you're looking at the UK Discovery+ site. B/R/Max own the rights in the US but are not showing it, probably just because they dont have the cycling stuff set up yet.

If I am understanding this correctly, last year you could subscribe to GCN+ via in app subscription. The service was geo-restricted. For example, if flotards were streaming something, I usually couldn't also see it on GCN+, but I didn't pay a lot of attention to this detail. However, when I used VPN to connect through the UK, I was able to see what I believed to be everything GCN+ carried, which looked to be just about everything and more with cycling. Everything. In app geo-restrictions did not apply.

What's going on now is the north american streams are limited to Flo (US and Canada), Peacock (US only. I need a VPN from Canada location), and MAX (still tbd). There is no way to get into in app services without a point of origin geolocation.

I curious to see how VPN + local free streams work.

FYI: I do not think skirting geo-restriction formats is a legal issue. I see it as a contract/license matter between race organizers or parent media company and the provider is mostly just streams the former's feed in its entirety usually without providing any particular service.
