They are Fing it up royally. Not on TV today but still get commercials :( It'll be like this for the entire race. I wish Someone who wants to show cycling would buy the rights to all the races NBC holds. But it's just not a big commodity in the USA :(

My only consolation is I'm on vacation and not paying serious attention and it's only Vuelta.

I dunno, it's fine, there were barely any commercials today. IMO we are spoiled. I remember the 2012 Vuelta was not even available for me to watch and I had to use a terrible quality illegal Eurosport stream if I wanted to see it live. I know the complaint is that we're already paying for Peacock so there should be no commercials, but I doubt cycling drives all that many subscriptions and without the money coming in from the ads I doubt that NBC would bother with cycling at all. what I do is I start watching a little bit later than it starts and rewind it to the start and then I can just fast-forward past the commercials when they come up. the picture quality for Peacock on my big screen is amazing, the same cant be said for Flobikes and they are even more expensive. GCN+ is nice commercial free but they show so many useless interviews and features that you miss as much as the race as you would with ads.

Yes I've gotten spoiled :). The world feed for the Tour was excellent and that should be the standard. Like you I turn on 1/2 hour late but start from the beginning so I can skip the commercials :). But that's not watching it live.

Unfortunately this is all too true, otherwise those of us who reside in the US wouldn't even need this thread. :(

I wonder what the coverage is like in Europe - do they just turn on the TV and say cycling? Oh yes, it's on so and so channel today, no worries.

One thing that really annoys me is Bobke translating km to miles.

Yes, Bob, we are Americans when we drive cars we need miles. But we are cycling fans. That means every race we watch has km countdown on distance remaining.
We quickly adapt. All of our race processing is in km. A break with 3 minute lead and 30km to go means something. A 3 minute lead and 20 miles....uhhhhh.....I would have to to convert it back to km.

That is definitely annoying about the US broadcasts, but what I find really vexing right now during the Vuelta is Peacock hasn't been showing how much distance there is left to race during the last km! I mean, am I supposed to guess whether there is still another 700m, 300m, or 50m left? It's just so fecking unprofessional of Peacock to presume we just don't care how many meters are left before the finish line, grrrrrrrrrrr...

Is that up to NBC or is it the feed that is failing to show remaining km?

The Eurosport feed showed meters to go (after the red kite) until there were 700-800 meters to go but then stopped. So as Kuss kept rounding bend after bend I had no idea where the finish was until he was 25 meters from the line. So I imagine that was from the main Spanish broadcast (RVTE or something like that), not just on Peacock.

I am here to post my annual lament that both Giro and Vuelta organizers insist on planning rest days on what are—I would argue—the two US national holidays (Memorial and Labor Days) best suited to hanging around in the morning and watching cycling and/or other sports.

You need to get a VPN and subscribe to GCN. I started doing this last year. Then you can cast races from your phone to a smart television.

CVV and Bobke said Ayuso had great TT performances at Sussie but without Roglic and EVENEPOEL present…
