Go to the Firefox add-ons site to get it. It's called NoScript.

As the name suggests it bans all scripts except those you allow a) temporarily or permanently and b) individually.

So when watching cycling feeds, everything gets blocked and you just unblock the one responsible for the feed (usually the same domain as the feed website) and leave all the other crap blocked. I usually give temporary permission until the end of the session.

If you don't already know how browser sessions and client-side scripting work, it may take some getting used to, but it's really worthwhile. :)

I use NoScript in conjunction with AdBlock Plus (available from same addons site) and kill 95% of banner ads and popups with that.

bingo !

plus WOT. a safe browsing tool that alerts the user about a site's safety rating - very helpful when goggling and searching.

btw, NoScript functions can be set in most browsers tools/options.

i've been using live streams for many years and hardly ever miss a pt race. never had any problems.

You should be working and not watching bikes races whilst at work.

-1 Boo! Working is much more enjoyable when there is a bike race sitting next to your spreadsheets. :)

Seriously though, as has already been said; the internet is so much better with FireFox, AdBlock Plus, and NoScript. Also, keep auto-updates on for Windows (will eliminate 98% of the threats right there), stop clicking the links in the emails advertising V!@GR@, and keep your Anti-Virus subscription up to date (free, paid, none are so much better than any other as to make it matter which one you use, just pick one and keep it current).

I dont recommend autoupdating windows. Far better to set it on inform but choose when to install. There are many windows updates that in the short term do more damage than good. I recommend always manually installing updates, and READ the details of each update before you install it. You spend ages trying to block sites from running scripts, not installing suspicious software, yet you TRUST EVERYTHING MICROSOFT SENDS YOU?????

As for anti virus's.. teh claim that none are better than the other is very very wrong. There are certainly some that are much WORSE than others. For instance int he last tests ive seen, Mcaffee, Norman and Trend all only scored standard in defence tests.

For example:

all are not equal

Can we move this thread somewhere more relevant

Stretching the definition of pretty, though, isn't it? If I'd still been in the UK when CN advertised their web job a while back, I might have applied. The site really needs some work. :)
