Cyclist name pronounciations

I recently found this website called forvo.com which is a place where you can submit words in any language and then people who speak that language can record a pronounciation of the word. I found that there were several cyclist names added to the database so I thought it would be interesting if we could all expand on that.

What I did was that any time I found a cyclists name pronounced I would add the tag "cyclist" to it. So if you go to the page specifically for the word cyclist you can find a whole list of pronounciations:

http://www.forvo.com/tag/cyclist

The list is far from complete however so if anyone has a rider that they want to know how it is pronounced feel free to add it to the database or if you're lazy you can post it here so that someone else can post it on the site.

It would also be helpful if people help out by pronouncing names in their own language when there is a name that is awaiting pronounciation.

LOL, I see Przemysław Niemiec is "pending pronounciation". He was on the front so much today but the commentators didn't even try.

Absolutely awesome. Thanks!

I'm not convinced Sagan wasn't done by an English speaker...
edit: what the... Pretty sure no one got Hushovd right.

If you click on the name you can see who and from where the person who pronounced it is. Peter Sagan was definately done by an american in an american english pronounciation. If there is any slovaks here that can correct the pronounciation it would be appreciated.

Here's a pretty reliable one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqoP5X9HqVo

The problem with this is that names are often a bit weird, and not in general usage (unless their famous). Ask Brits how to pronounce Kennaugh and you'll get several different answers (largely varying by region).

Ya, but it's always possible for several people to record a name and it will show on the names page what accent the person who recorded it is using.

I swear I've heard Peter himself pronounce it two different ways.

(Kennaugh, not Sagan)

Robert Gesink was a surprise to me. I was getting Gesink pretty much correct, but I've never heard the R in Robert rolled like that before.

Wow thanks for the link. Always a struggle for me to get the rigth pronunciation, specially for the dutchies.

BTW, Tiago Machado is in brazilian portuguese, which makes it sound funny. And I finally know how to say lovkvist!:D

Always wondered about Menchov.

And its just Menschov. :D
Everything ok.

That Przemysław (Niemiec) is really hard. That Sagan can't be true.

The Hoo is as in "G's up Hoe's down".
The soft G you'll prolly never get.

I've been practicing myself and I think I get it... Is a hard one but is cool... I like how it sounds...

Hushovd sound Norwegian imo but the Breschel part of Matti Breschel is not exactly spot on
