Brailsford when asked was there anything else in the package, replied 'I hope not'. He didn't say no and I can't beleive that he didn't know or enquire off Freeman. It sounds completely ludicrous to send an €8 decongestant which was available less than 1km away in France, half way across Europe. The fact that he could not answer no to a simple question means that Freeman has questions to answer. Brailsford and indeed Sutton appear to know very little or make many enquiries as to what products their riders are being administered by the medical team. A lot of faith seems to be placed in the ethics and processes employed by the doctors at Sky. That's if you actually believe Brailsford and his bluster.

Surely the fact he can't state 'no' is because he didn't personally check the package himself to verify it's contents. Which when you think of the role of a CEO is not exactly a shock. Or he knows there was something else in the package and he's trying to create plausible deniability in the event that does become public knowledge. . .

But leaving aside Sky and one's trust in whatever they say for a moment, I think it's really interesting that lots of comment has been made around the seeming lack of knowledge or oversight that coaches are giving the medical team. In principle, don't you generally want the Doctors making medical decisions about rider's health independent of pressure or 'oversight' from coaches?

It was, they was protestation from Sutton and Brailsford about being a 'clean team" but when it came down to it, they wouldn't actually know if a Doctor was injecting Wiggins with EPO in the bus. The fact that they are shipping medical supplied with little to no control or authorisation is very worrying.

indeed the hog.....just imagine, in this trusting environment, what might happen if, say, you employed a team doctor who was very experienced in the provision and administration of PEDs to GC guys....

just imagine :)

Walsh now stating that he believes there is a massive cover up going on. Surely Walsh should be 'unembedding' himself from Sky at this stage. I can't imagine there is any kind of relationship between himself and Brailsford after recent events.

But Sky didn't know that Leinders has a doping reputation. Everyone else did but forgot to tell Sky. You can't blame Sky for that.

Walsh has to somehow jump off the sinking ship that is Sky and retain his mantle as the great anti doping crusader.

Walsh still claiming Froome's is clean. LOL

Walsh's credibility will go down with the goodship Sky and half the journos he lambasted over not believing him when he told the world Sky were legit will remind him for the rest of his days.

So called* Anti doping heroes, Millar and JV keeping their silence. Again proving the sport has not changed.

*edit.

Shane stokes twitter feed is pretty decent handle on todays commons meeting.

Reading that, Sky painted themselves as UKPS.

Spot on from Cillian Kelly (yesterday)

Cillian Kelly ‏@irishpeloton 15 hours ago
Time ran out the moment he was first asked what was in the package and refused to answer.

1. If a UKAD investigation is required to attempt to get to the truth regarding your behaviour, you are not open and transparent.

2. If a parliamentary committee is required to get to the truth behind your behaviour, you are not open and transparent.

3. If you are asked a simple question and you speak for nine minutes and don't answer the simple question, you are not open and transparent.

4. Team Sky and Dave Brailsford are not open and transparent.

I would not expect that to suddenly change today.

and nope no change from Brailsford/Sky.

I would not be surprised if Brailsford steps down before 2017.

I would not be surprised if he comes back in 2018 with Tinkov :D

Fluimucil apparently alters patients heamatology up to 9% in Hct.

Obviously Wiggins/Sky not tripping ABPs(were the even tested?)...........except JTL when in TeamGB colours!

If the parliamentary committee were being serious, they'd be checking the medical records and doctor's backup notes to verify the claim and not just accept someone's word for it, particularly when that someone has already been caught out bluffing.

OK, I love to throw crap at Sky but a 9% rise in HCT on Fluimucil? You're gonna need to link that one son, because that's total bull5hit.

Arguably he has unembedded himself, with those comments. Surely you can't think he can say that and then go back to bigging Team Sky up?

Barloworld injected riders with Fluimucil. Froome admitted to Kimmage he got injections of Fluimucil.

no "no needle policy" at Barloworld
no banned product
he even told it to Kimmage

no problem

And indeed nobody says it's a problem for Froome.

it's potentially a problem for Wiggins, as today it was alleged by Shane (I think) that Freeman "administered" it to Wiggins, which suggests injection.

But the press might skip over this.

I'd love to know who made the allegation to Matt Lawton at the Daily Mail. He said it was a Team Sky insider. How could that person have known an injection took place if it was just Freeman and Wiggins in the room when it happened. Maybe Brailsford thought it was Freeman who made the allegation and that explains his comments to Lawton. If there was something to cover-up then it would have been pretty easy to do so without going down the Pooley, Bus explanations etc.

Brailsford going full Bruyneel/

'If you didn't write the story, is there anything else that could be done?' Brailsford asked me.

Funny thing is journalists regularly pay people for information themselves and I've seen it suggested that Lawton has done so himself with regards to his sources at British Cycling and UKAD.

Yes, journalists sometimes pay for information, what they don't do is a Brailsford suggested, to be paid to make a story "go away".

Sir Dave was prepared to take out another team just to make he story go away. He then offered Lawton what appeared to be a bribe.

Makes you wonder how many of the UK journalists have been paid by Sky to print puff pieces or not to print anything sordid.

Visibly stressed, Brailsford was desperate for the story not to be published, fearing it could be the end for Team Sky. That it would take them all down.

He offered me an alternative, 'more positive', story. He asked if a good story on a rival team might be enough to stop me investigating the allegation.

And before the meeting ended, he made a final attempt to regain control of a troubling situation. 'If you didn't write the story, is there anything else that could be done?' Brailsford asked me.

Walsh calling Lawton's revelation about Brailsford trying to kill the story is "not so much a game changer, as a game ender."

Also says his info is that Sky will pull it if Brailsford resigns or is forced to quit.
