sort of became important tho when James stuffed up with the phone hacking scandal in the tabloids of NewsCorp, and then Sky can have some reflected glory while the Murdoch's pay penance.

caveat: phone hacking was going on before James moved across from BSkyB which he did do a very successful job with, to NewsLimited print in UK. And Sky's sponsorship was in the works before the phone hacking every knew the name Millie Dowler.

As soon as the phone hacking scandal kicked off James was removed from the Sky Velo cycling club.

not the context. It cast the entire firm in a positive light. When they had the pitchforks out for the Murdochs.

Ofcourse James was gonna remove his visage from the parapet as they was have thrown scarlet all over him

So you guys prefer the traditional team structure where the sponsor is not the owner of the parent company then and teams go through sponsor/doping crisis every few years or end up with equally dodgy sponsors like Astana & Tinkoff in the biggest GT teams?

“As soon as you think about trying to replace someone like Bradley, you back yourself into a corner,” the Team Sky principal said. “His contribution to this team has been phenomenal, absolutely remarkable.

“We set out to win the Tour with a clean, British rider and that’s what he did. He’s an incredible athlete, he’s one of the most versatile athletes the sport has ever seen – he can ride on the track, win time-trials, win mountain stages.

“That’s why we all believe he can be a great athlete even as he comes to the end of his career.”

“If he can win the Paris-Roubaix he’ll have one of the most awesome records any rider in this sport has ever had,” Brailsford said. “He wants to the do the hour record and then finish up at the track in the Olympics.

“If he could finish his story where he started out with a medal round his neck in Rio, that would be one hell of an ending. And knowing Bradley he’ll want to find the next Bradley as well.

I heard after his cycling career is over he is going to cure cancer.

Prolly so - Did wiggans have trouble with the toilet also?

Anyhow I can't wait until we figure out how DB has discovered this new water that will put them over the top - http://www.formula-four.com/

What a scam. I want to see someone use that as the new marginal gain. It's the water - Honest.

Totally my opinion, but for whatever reasons they chose to ignore it too. The 60 minutes piece on Carmichael was out there in plain site and not one writer noted Wonderboy was intimately involved.

We're in the honeymoon phase with Sky/BC.

By this you mean we're getting screwed a lot?

Do Brailsford and Dawg have a pact to call him Bradley to **** him off?

Theres some serious weed smoking going on there by Johan Brailsford.

I hope the UCI ramp up the testing for P-R this year.

All this talk about Bradley winning it gives me a bad taste in the mouth.

Wouldn't hold my breath if i were you.

If UCI ramps up testing it will be to the benefit of Sky and certain others.

Wouldn’t matter if he tested positive. The UCI independent in-house tribunal would deal with it so it never saw the light of day. Then they’d release an Astana positive of a continental rider.

F4 is just a smoke screen. I've heard from Very reliable sources that, continuing with his marginal gains program, he's going into collaboration with DrinkableAir.com. It's not what it sounds like; each team car will have an ultrasonic humidifier on board with a pipe exiting out the left hand rear. The rider drops back and takes a few big gulps of 70% humidity, gets his new orders (this is preparing in advance of the eventual radio ban). This saves about 1.5lbs per bidon and is much more aero.

Additionally, each rider will be required to pick, and then flush, his nose prior to the start: weight And clear air passages right from the start.

I dont see how Wiggins could win

is the only person he has even beaten in an open road finish that was not a mtn top in July, Saul Raisin? He cant win in a sprint, they will make mincemeat out of him if they come into the velodrome with him, I dont think he can ride a Cancellara or Vanmarcke or Boonen off his wheel.

If I was a bookmaker, I would be offering about 50 to one, and I would clean up with all the empire crew coming in to lay him.

I believe, honestly, he's seen the error of his ways which is why he's been effectively sidelined.

On the other hand, with Dawg being such a liability, and BW missing the fawning and wanting to go out with a bang and SKY needing any hero they can get...

We'll all find out in the end. After MC kicks the bucket, Dawg will spill the beans without a handler.

He hs won a bunch sprint once, during the year of AICAR in 2012.

Bradley Wiggins won stage 1 at the Tour de Romandie Wednesday in a bunch sprint. With the victory, Wiggins took command of the general classification from Sky teammate Geraint Thomas.
Wiggins found himself in unfamiliar territory in the finale in La Chaux de Fonds, leading out a bunch of approximately 50 riders. Seeing an opportunity, the Brit opened his sprint early, appeared to think twice about it, before kicking to the line ahead of Lieuwe Westra (Vacansoleil-DCM

I was as dismissive as you and then Sir Brad did okay at the Classics. Moreover, Sky's most memorable podiums were all in the spring too. He would have to ride Omega-Pharma-Whatever off his wheel a little ways from the finish, or bury other riders in an early sprint. It might happen.

Brailsford-talk is off to a great start in 2015. Need more interviews.

If it rains Wiggins will not finish. He his not a good bike handler.
If it's dry he will have to rely on a lot of luck to beat the big boys.
He will be marked if he's in with a shot with 30k to go.
He will not be allowed to get away. He ain't no FC or TB.

Zenkai Brailsford will be happy with a podium at PR,hangs onto Canc/Vanmarcke and finishes 3rd in the sprint.Brailsford lauds it as "They said it was a race he could never do well in and now in successive years he's top10'd and now podiumed, what an incredible athlete Bradley is,so versatile,is there anything he can't do?"

I'm not defending Sir Dave here, as he does talk some sh*t at times, but Sir Brad did win a mountain TT in one of the 2012 stage races he won. I don't think this counts as winning a traditional "mountain stage" (certainly not plural) though.

Maybe he means that epic mountain stage win at the Tour de l'Avenir?
