Van der Poel already had a gap before people started climbing off their bike. People started going on foot at completely different spots independently of each other. Maybe some guys could have stayed on their bike without riders in their way but then they should have positioned themselves better. This "he was gifted a minute" narrative is complete nonsense.
Vermeersch blocked the whole lot. Ofcourse bettiol and Theuns should position themselves. And ofcourse mvdp would have won (he actually made it harder for himself not waiting and going later), but I don’t like this kind of separation due to riders getting blocked. May I?
 
45 Km solo? Strongest rider today. I expected Jorgenson to hang on a little bit longer.

Just seeing his flash interview, he mentioned this was his toughest RVV. I have a feeling he always says that.
