This is simply how it has always been on this climb. You go into this climb too far back, you might be f*cked. It was more extreme this time than usually but nothing unfair happened.

And aside, your entire point was that Vermeersch blocked "everyone" so don't pretend like that part isn't important. You made a wrong accuaation so owe up to it.
There is a shot where Vermeersch is blocking everyone. I didn’t say it was on purpose, but it came in handy. I don’t owe anything.

I stand by my opinion that the Koppenberg killed a fair race, as (like you said) the time lost by walking was for most riders extreme. First place wouldn’t have changed, but second and third for sure.

Guys in the early moves nowhere to be found in the end. Lidl, Movistar and Visma invested a lot and tried to pressure/isolate MVP. Burned all of their matches and had nothing left when it mattered most. Sucks to see them beat by a number of teams/riders that raced for 2nd place from the very beginning but that's how it works.

Better to go down like that than with plenty to spare after the race has been decided.

Vermeersch was somewhere around ~10th position at best, and only three made it through. They must have stopped for the sausages
