That's amazing.

I was staring at the carcass for ages, trying to figure out what it was when the eagle stood up to reveal the little babies.

Then it tore a strip off whatever the thing is and served dinner.

serving fish today...

Hi Brodeal,
just checked the eagles and they have a fine-looking fish in the nest today!

That is good. I watched earlier today and it looked like there was not much left to eat. The crow had been reduced to feathers and there was no sign of the rabbit nor the muskrat. I heard that last year they brought a fawn to the nest.

The eaglets are looking a bit more active.

Yes indeed. :)
They look really funny.

Seems to be fish-day today. Some nice trouts and something big.

I was wondering if the third egg would hatch or not, then today I saw the new addition. I've seen both parents there a couple of times, which is cool. The fish looked better than whatever rodent was on the menu the day before.

Yesterday there was a big V6 or V8 blowing along that street. bähhhhhhhhhm

Lunchtime now. Impressive how sensitive such big animals can be.

I definitely agree, the fish looked way better than the thing with claws...:) I do love the eyes on these creatures...so expressive. If I were a rodent I would fear that gaze alone!

Uh-oh. There is supposed to be a huge storm later today and tomorrow with high wind, rain, hail, etc. If the nest weighs 3000 lbs and is 80 feet up then wind would exert a tremendous amount of stress on the tree.
