And then there is this.
In an interview with elcorreogallego.es, Escartin spoke out in support of the runner-up, saying he wasn't sure if the UCI was trying to help or destroy cycling. "It's amazing how the UCI can leak these cases," Escartin said. "It seems if a rider takes an aspirin he's a drug addict.

"Cycling has to hold its head up. I have confidence in the riders. They have to tell their whereabouts 365 days a year, knowing that if they do something that is against the rules they will get caught."

Omerta, it's alive and well.

"I’ve been called by Roman Kreuziger ," said Gilbert. "We will probably leave Milano ten minutes late, or so; it's a good idea that for us to act, because we can not accept this situation."

"We can accept that most riders dope, that doesn't bother us at all,"continued Gilbert. "But we cannot tolerate it when someone exaggerates, conflating 90% dopers with 100% dopers. That is unacceptable."

as my wife once said, don't exaggerate when something is only 95% true. no she's not a scientist but she knows how i think.

Lol!

I laughed out loud at this!

Well done!

Roman did tattoo "I'm Doping Free" on his arm, that must count for something.

Wow...!

I know I shouldn't be, but am I the only one who's shocked by these statements? Even though I knew the sport is quite dirty(understatement), this really shockes me. Things haven't changed one bit!!!

:D

Somewhere there has to be a balance though. "They're all doing it" really is something that dopers use to justify their actions to themselves. It would have been better for Torrie to say "the vast majority are doing it", if that is his opinion.

I fail to see how an announced delay to the race is a protest. Would of worked much better had they stopped a few K from the race finish line, but I guess that would be too much of a real protest and tells me they're not that mad about it.

Where is this 90% quote? It's not in the Velonation or cyclingnews articles. That number seems a little ridiculous to me

I could accept this if there were anything approaching an equal uproar whenever an official (much more commonly) says, "we have doping under control", "there are very few dopers", "we are catching the dopers now", and the like.

Who is guilty of the greater exaggeration, those who say they're all dopers, or those who say that the only dopers are the small % who are actually caught?

The satirical Gilbert quote is very funny but I can understand why Gilbert is pi55ed.

Oh dear there I go again putting my trust in the sport and going at least one decent rider is clean...

Whoever said this kind of protest is rubbish - it's front page on CN and we're talking about it

Edit and still the administrators help continue the myth that only cycling and athletics are the drugs bad boys of sport...

Made up by the poster. He was correcting Gilbert because Pip can't be as informed as people on the internet.
