This actually looks like an interesting race, great to have it back.

I liked it more in its previous format, back when the route was more diverse, had more stages and had real mountains, but I reckon they will expand the race if this year turns out a succes

It depends on which regions will want to see the race. This year it seems Pfalz (if i'm correct, my knowledge of German regions is nonexistent) is paying - a very hilly region, but nothing more than that. The stages are quite good for hilly stages, but for me it might be a bit too many. It feels a little bit on the stale side. But i guess they did a decent job with what they had to work with and i guess some of these bigger names will bring some attention to the race.

In a sense it reminds me of the Arctic race, ran by ASO, a bunch of hilly stages and across 4 days. Tour of Yorkshire as well. ES will broadcast the last 2 hours si thats also kinda nice.

Yes, it looks like a nice race.
It would be nice if ASO would put the same kind of effort in creating hilly stages for the first week of the Tour, but you can't have everything...

Yeah, if you start in some decently hilly places in France those kinda stages are more than possible. Instead, we have got utter crap the last two years in that regard. The stage in Yorkshire was brilliant, but lets not do that anymore.

Well, the other two are because they're doing the Vuelta, probably Carapaz is there to cover for the loss of Landa, since though he won't lead a team with Nairo and the Don in it, he'll probably shoulder the responsibility of being the last man for them at least some of the time (depending on Winner). Very interesting to see only two Spaniards in the Vuelta lineup for the only Spanish WT team. The Deutschlandtour lineup therefore seems to be Rubén Fernández leading some of the lower-level riders on the team, not the youngsters like Carretero and Castrillo (though Bico falls into that category) but the likes of Arcas and Dayer. Bico therefore can't be doing Plouay, which he was down to do.

It sounds like Sutterlin is going to this race for Movistar.

It is really odd with only 2 Spaniards going to la Vuelta for the Spanish WT team. A lot of their Spanish fans are not going to be very happy. It also means the Spanish Worlds National Team will be pulling riders from other teams as the only rider who can skip la Vuelta and get on the National team (baring it being a totally flat race) is Valverde.

Yup, thats the benefit of the ASO. And 2 hours is more than enough as well.

Yes, mistake from Bora. Ackermann had to go in the wind too early. You could see how fast Hodeg was just because he came out of the slipstream.
