Knowing nothing about the race apart from what I just saw in the posted videos I would say the blame is about 50/50 between Roche and Visentini for the drama in the team, and the stronger man won, so it's bike racing.

Seems to me like they both sinned each other, but crucially, Visinenti sinned first. Visinenti thought he could mess with Roche when Roche was in pink, and so Roche messed with him when he was in pink. Visinenti attacked Roche when Roche was in pink and had crashed the day before. He got what was coming to him, I think. Ultimately, on the crucial day where he snapped, all the other favourites put huge chunks of time into him.
