I was upfront with my fiancee, she knew my background and she accepted it and she watched the penultimate day with me she said it was ok, but know we've watched the tour for the past 7 years, and next year we're going to france next year. Side-effect of this she's a lance fan, thinks he has sex appeal. IDK why. But yeah that's what you have to do if you explain the circumstances if she's an *** about it then that alters things. Also this is the prologue if it was ventoux then I would put it off.
Rehears this until you can say it with a straight face:

Last year, I combined a trip to visit a female friend(admittedly not a girlfriend) with watching the last stage of our national Tour as it finished in the city in which she lives. She has no interest in cycling so went shopping but then came to join me for the last hour or so and she really enjoyed it, even more than I did and she didnt know a single participant.
On the other hand, I had a girl freak out on me because I had promised to do something with her only to discover my favourite rider was in a break at the Vuelta so I had to return home to watch the stage. This was just after we had booked a trip to NY on the internet with which she was delighted, I then quicky checked the live update on cyclingnews and once I found out my guy was up there, no way was I missing it. This girl freaked out over a lot of things so there were a lot of arguments.
Tell your gal the truth and you will soon discover whether she is worth the effort.

Haha... thanks for all the options! It is resolved now.... and btw some years ago I did plan a holiday with an ex gf to Italy - amazingly it was in May and there was 'some' bike race on close by, ahem....
She loved it - she even bought a Pantani bandana!!!

Yowsa! Too bad you're not single (total JOKE!).
My SO can watch a little, but she got this little crush on Tyler Hamilton back after the Olympics, as he seemed like such a nice guy, and the baby blue eyes and freckles I guess. Despite his troubles, it never completely went away. We'd have these conversations, like one about a month ago:
Alpe: Tyler got busted again, he's done.
Mrs. Alpe: Oh well, but he's so cute!
Alpe: He's a liar and doper, and apparently a headcase who suffers from depression.
Mrs. Alpe: I thought you said they were pretty much all dopers?
Alpe: Yeah, well. He's done. Probably banned for life.
Mrs. Alpe. He's still cute though!
Alpe: Sigh.

take her through it and educate - can't hurt to have another convert to the cause...
