Yeah, this is how Armstrong waited Beloki, his rival in 2003, a true act of class, Lance, running like a true sportive gentleman after Beloki had a horrible crash in front of him

Lol. My first post was meant to be a bit tongue in cheek, but are you serious regarding Beloki? Did you expect him to walk back up the hill? Or remount once he had reached the rode and ride back? OR maybe pitch a tent and wait until he was out of hospital before resuming racing??

I would suggest that this was more than a little different given that Schleck was standing in the road struggling with his chain and Bertie just accelerated past him.

Lance waited because he is a gentleman of the sport, AC is obviously not, hence his whiny half baked apology done because he probably doesn't want 1 million spectators booing at him for the next few days. To late Pistolero!

mmmm Did Lance wait for Beloki? Ehmmmm NOP... Doesn't matter how hard Beloki crashed Lance had to wait for him to see if Beloki could recover... or for this situation sportmanship not work...?

contador was entitled to push on but he's not entitled to applause if he wins in Paris. to those who say there's no room for sportsmanship, feel free to book a ticket to Paris to cheer him on the podium because he'll need you there.

Blah blah blah... AC is a monster and Andy is the white prince... whatever...

NO GIFTS NO MATTER WHAT!!!

That should be the principal rule in cycling... in stage 2 the peloton waited for Andy and Frank, in the stage 3 Andy took advantage from Frank's crash... and He attacked everybody including La Maillot Jaune...

Cycling is talent, stamina, go beyond your limits, know how to use your bike, etc... If Andy made a bad change why he should be waited?? "Well because you can't attack La MJ while he had mech problem..." That was not a mech problem, was poor bike knowlegde and that is part of cycling...

In F-1 if Alonso has mech problems nobody wait for him, in MotoGP if Rossi falls from his bike nobody wait for him... that is racing too...

If you missed a change in a HC mountain... Learn how to use your bike
If you fell taking a curve... Learn how to take a curve
If you punctured... That is different cuz is made from an external factor...
If you crashed against a dog... That is different cuz is made from an external factor...
If you felt cuz a fan took you down... That is different cuz is made from an external factor...

But where is the line??? Cycling is not a tea party...

Either you are a liar or you don't know what you are talking about.

AC isn't Armstrong. He will win at any cost, even if it was due to a mechanical. Lance felt that to wear yellow you must win it because you are the stronger rider, not because the other guy had a mechanical error. Personally I think this just shows how competitive AC is, and how badly he wants to win. If that's the way he wants to win then so be it. He also won when Rasmussen got booted. He could have two questionable titles under his belt.

pleeeeeez! Lance felt? as if you are in his bloodstream somehow and know how he feels. The guy a big dooosh.....remember this? I am pretty sure he spit on Simeoni as well. NICE SPORTSMANSHIP THERE!.

I also posted a video of this "sportsman" shouldering some poor old guy after yesterdays stage cuz he was ...uh....doing nothing and yell and curse like a little baby....

On the 18th stage of the 2004 edition of the Tour de France, Simeoni gapped up to a breakaway of six riders that posed no threat to Armstrong's leading position. Nevertheless, Armstrong followed Simeoni, which prompted Armstrong's rival T-Mobile Team to try to catch the breakaway. This would not only catch Armstrong but also eliminate the stage winning chances of the six riders in the original breakaway. The six riders implored Armstrong to drop back to the peloton, but Armstrong would not go unless Simeoni went with him and the two riders dropped back to the peloton. Afterwards, Armstrong made a "zip-the-lips" gesture but later said that Simeoni "did not deserve" to win a stage. Two days later was the final stage, which is usually a slow stage in which the Tour winner (in 2004 it was Armstrong) already celebrates his victory. But in this stage Simeoni continuously attacked, to take revenge for what Armstrong did three days before, but was reeled in every time by Armstrong's team.

I'm pretty sure the OP has his reply by now - CN forum thinks that neither sportsmanship nor etiquette have any place in modern sports.

Also, the CN forum is full of people who know much more about racing and bike handling than a mere pro like Andy Schleck, so they're no doubt correct.

Sastre has had today very harsh words on those who insist on sportmanship/etiquette. He attacked today after the crash involving Sam Sanchez and did not pay any heed to Contador words at that moment, as he already had a teammate ahead. He has insisted that nobody has waited for him when he has had any crash or mechanical, and those who talk about etiquette are turning the sport into a childish game. I don't know if he has seen the hug between AC and AS at the finish today

None of the translation robots I've checked can make any sense out of Carlos Tailor and Alberto Accountant's words, sorry
