Dogs at roadside.

I'm enjoying Etoile de Besseges on tele. I think it was Jose Been (commentator) who suggested that there should be many dogs with fans at the roadside as a race passes. I was so pleased that Marty Mcrossen politely disagreed. I occasionaly experience a dog aggresively running at me when I am cycling...I'm 78 and find it unnerving . For racing cyclists it could cause a crash or, at least, affect their concentration. Jose did say the dogs should be on leads but dogs would still be able to bark very aggresively and lung toward riders and some dogs would inevitably be loose. For my threepennath I don't think it was a sensible soggestion as dogs and cycling dont mix. I apologise if I have misnamed the commentators but I still think my point is an important one. Thanks

Definitely agree!
It's one thing to remind people that if they absolutely "have to" (and do you ever actually have to do that?) bring their dogs, then make sure to keep them leashed. Or, even better; kneeling down next to them, putting their arms around the dogs.
But to straight out say that people should bring their dogs, that's just wild!

Besides, I'm not too sure the dogs are gonna enjoy it all that much, what with all the noise...

I too am sick of constant propaganda from the dog lobby being pushed on me, they stink and demand constant attention, they should all be released back into the woods where they belong, **** dogs.
I don't even know where this energy comes from. Didn't expect it here.

They say god judges us on how we behave towards dogs.

So I am going to hell too, Mister Sister! I don't think they should even be in the woods, as least not one close to me!!

You are not alone. I love dogs but if dogs are off a leash the owners should be heavily fined. If dog's cause a big crash in the peloton the owners should be charged for causing injury through their gross negligence. Its all about policing and the courts. But I don't worry about barking unless the dog is off a leash.
