Yep, shame for Domenico - but Froome and Fugelsang are also missing out, so maybe IPT have decided to get rid of the "golden oldies". Hope Pozzovivo gets to do the Vuelta though as he deserves one last GT.

DNF Stage 1 - any one know what happened?

No idea… :(

I just took the time to check results of their eight TdF starters before 2023 TdF. I was shocked and angry that they left Pozzovivo at home. The whole Tour was tailormade for him!

He was in excellent shape, and furthermore deserved a reward for a great 2023 until then.

What a shame… :( So sad…

14th at Giro dell'Emilia only a minute behind Roglic - not bad training for Lombardia. Hang on in there Dominico!

it certainly sound like, but as mentioned in the transfer thread, he is the one delaying it, not the team. Pozzovivo wants to do a final Giro, so he will only sign when they get a wild card for it.
That was also something he reposted and the wild cards are announced in the beginning of Jan, I believe.

So there is probably an agreement in principle if they get invited... which they probably has a good chance of with Pozzovivo in the team.

I would have loved it if he signed with Bardiani as a mentor for Pellizari. Mentoring Piganzoli at Polti would also be a better option in my book, but at least he should get full leadership at Corratec for a final Giro attempt, where he hopefully won't crash out again.

He can mentor Kuba and teach him how to climb.

"We wish Domenico Pozzovivo all the best for the future following his time at Israel-Premier Tech. Domenico played a key role in Michael Woods' victory at the Route d'Occitanie - La Dépêche du Midi, while obtaining also top 10s at the Coppi & Bartali International Week and the CIC Mont Ventoux," recalls the Israeli team, which hired the Italian at the beginning of March.
