Ashenden says UCI-run anti-doping hotline would lack credibility
“For the UCI to urge riders to come forward with information now is like a fox with feathers in its mouth urging the next chicken to come down off its roost.”

"...Speaking after the UCI's hotline initaitve was launched, Andreu said, "I think it's a sh!t idea. It's something they're putting out there but I don't know who thought of it. Who is going call up because unless you're talking about yourself then you're just raising suspicion on other people. It's not like the UCI have a police force that are going to investigate all these tips."
...
"When I came forward they criticised me."
Well there you have it.
Dave.
fatandfast said:Just a lie. He never came forward. His admission was an interview. The next and only punishment he got was from the cycle fed after his grand jury. The guy is like the rest never told his employer, the UCI and USAC had multiple written and audio accounts of Frankie saying he broke the rules. He said it over and over, nobody did anything. When the rest of the planet got on Armstrong's case then light bulbs went on atop the official heads and Andreu is finally punished. What more did he need to do? Shoot up in front of them? The silly part is Yates,White and others have all stepped away because of their doping and national team junior involvement, but Frankie shouldn't have to because he told a newspaper he was a doper, it was no secret. It may be the flavor of the day, but all the other doped riders turned managers are all employed. Good message to the paying public. He should post a copy of the letters or emails between himself and the UCI. Who wrote first? Did he admit to them he doped?

D-Queued said:Interesting.
So if someone publicly admits to doping, you are suggesting that it doesn't count if he didn't email the UCI?
Interesting. Too bad there was no doping hotline, I guess.
Interesting in the context of the Vrijman report that solely relied upon - unverified - newspaper articles as its source of information.
So, *unverified* news services counted for the UCI then, but not for Frankie?
Interesting.
So you are saying that it was Frankie who had the double standard?
no I am saying that like all the other pros that have been tripped up by life, taxes, cancer, divorce or anything else. The UCI or federation should have at the very least acknowledged wrongdoing and acted accordingly. Frankie is not evil, but he sure ain't helpful. His punishment should have been before a decade of dry doodoo had happened. Look at the timeline. Lance doped, undetected.
SCA sees something completely different.
Frank and Betsy tell their story, right or wrong. Once Frankie repeated he was a doper the USAC should have acted, or the USPro,or the UCI or his ex-team or....nobody cared until now. Andreu is a good racer and a decent guy, just like the rest. Top down the UCI is the sloth, member admits to breaking the rules and no reaction.none If there was a standard, high or otherwise the idea of an athlete publishing that he broke your rules is cause for (re)action
