Thought this was interesting, Roy Nelson is fighting Shane Carwin in a couple of months and Nelson has always been anti-drugs and Carwin was caught up in a scandal when he was named as buying steroids from a pharmacist that was convicted of illegally selling them

http://blog.al.com/live/2010/08/pharmacist_in_mobile_ala_stero.html

So the other day Roy Nelson comes out and says they have agreed to additional VADA testing for their fight

http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2012/10/...-agree-to-vada-drug-testing-for-tuf-16-finale

Basically it turns out that Carwin hadn't agreed to it and Nelson by announcing it kind of backed him into a corner as he either agrees or looks guilty as hell, so in response Carwin's manager comes out with this to try and discredit VADA

One of the reasons I find it interesting is that Roy Nelson has kind of said that in the past he took a certain pride out of beating guys he knew were on drugs but now that his wife is pregnant he can't take any risks losing because someone has an unfair advantage so he wants a level playing field ideally where people are clean but if serious drug testing isn't going to be done then he will just take them as well, he just wants to know where he stands.

Also Jake Shields has been banned for 6 months for failing a drug test for PEDS.

Great, worst place to talk MMA, here in the Clinic...there are other much better forums on the internet for this.

The list is long of guy busted for roids in MMA:

Overeem
Barnett
Bonnar
Sylvia
Belfort
Kerr
Royce Gracie
Phil Baroni
Sherk
Antonio Silva
(Sonnen, Couture and Marquardt all have apparent TUEs to allow Test use)

The list is a mile long.

Krystoff was a body builder before doing MMA, although these guys training and diet is ridiculous, then the weight cutting, along with the overall science and training today put into, of course they are ripped. Power to weight ratio is everything, just like cycling.

The Polish Experiment was likely doing juice in the past while body building.

BJ Penn is clean for sure, Hopefully more fighters wills start using VADA, its the only way i see the sport getting cleaned up.

Rory "bacne" McDonald is on something for sure, GSP must be giving him some of the good stuff, the guy is unbelievably strong for his weight class.

Dana says it's legal.

From a 'sporting' perspective I guess as long as you stay below the state's set limit it is.

A normal T/E is considered 1/1.

Of course there are exceptions to the norm with various percentages of the public exceeding that ratio.

So the Nevada state athletic commission has set their limit to 6/1.

That way you won't test positive if you are one of the rare  freaks out there who's T/E approaches 6/1.

This is just like the 50 hemocrit level for cyclists.

In other words you're crazy not to shoot for the excepted limit.

Hmm...I wonder what T/E level the average UFC pro would test at? Methinks purty dern close to 6/1.
